Thank you, ballydw.
Can I just be clear . I am not at all familiar with Cloyne. When you say the Cathedral Cemetery, does that refer to the Church of Ireland Cathedral or St Colman's RC cemetery.? I understand that the Church of Ireland cemetery has both Protestant and Roman Catholic burials.
I am very grateful for your help.

Can anyone help?
WILLIAM FRANCIS RUSSELL CALLAGHAN (or O'Callaghan) died on 18 Nov 1917 after serving with the Royal Navy.  Aged 40, he died at Cloyne where his mother, Margaret, lived at The Square.
William's death was attributable, in part or in whole, to his wartime experiences. He was
entitled to a War Grave but, like many others, was missed out when the post-war memorials were prepared.
He is still eligible to be remembered in this fashion  - if proof of burial can be established.
Does anyone know where William is buried?  Any  pieces of evidence - death notices, notice of funeral arrangements, obituaries, family records - would be very gratefully received.
Thank you.

Thank you for that clarification, Forfarian.
One of the joys of using Rootschat is the constant opportunity to learn from other people's knowledge !

According to Scotlands People, the marriage took place on 2 Jan 1906. John's usual place of residence was given as East North Street, Aberdeen; Christina was a housekeeper in Dundee. Married at Reform Street, Dundee before witnesses. Does that imply marriage at a Registry Office (or Scottish equivalent) rather than a church?

Thanks, Andy. I'm sure the answer lies in Tredegar. I will continue the search and post the result.

Thanks for your reply. I have used that site in the past and it can be helpful but, sadly, not in this case.

Thank you, Sandra -that's a good start point. Looks like there is still a Vaughan Bros, Funeral Directors , in Tredegar- worth a phone call come Monday.

Can anyone help?
LEWIS HENRY VAUGHAN died on 6 Aug 1916 after serving with the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. Aged 23, he lived and died at 59 High Street, Tredegar. He was the son of Elizabeth Ann Jones (formerly Vaughan).
At the 1901 Census he was  living in Tredegar with his father William, mother Elizabeth Ann, and siblings Thomas, Ellen and Rees. Thomas died in Germany in 1914 while serving with the Cheshire Regt. (was he perhaps POW ?)
Lewis is entitled to War Grave designation- if proof of burial can be found.
Does anyone know where Lewis Henry Vaughan is buried?  Any information would be gratefully received.

Inquiries to Dundee City Council have produced no trace of a burial in a municipal cemetery. Looks like he's in a church graveyard.
