Hi again on the 1911 census were William/Eliza married c 32 years, if so who is the adopted daughter Elizabeth b 1878 East Dean on the 1891 above?

The years married and ages of children vary quite a lot with the various censuses. Trying to find out who Elizabeth is, is next on the list

Hi again on that 1891 census William had a newly married brother Mark b 1862 Breconshire married to a Carnation and children,  in 1881 he is with a wonderful group in 3, Gipsy Tents in East Dean, Westbury on Severn
Census ref RG11/2523/110/9

Thanks I am aware or Mark and Carnation. There never seems to be a census of mark and william together when they were children although williams parents were using John not johns.

I have checked my family tree and i have a davis link already from one of william and elizas children marrying a hodgkins/hopkins/hoskins grandmother so it would seem that davis was linked to travellers in that area, going to look more into it

Hi the family were in Westbury on Severn in 1891 census, RG12/2004/60/2, has the birth registration Comfort JONES June qtr 1885 Westbury S 6a 261 mmn Davis been looked at?

Thanks i will look into this.  I often get mistaken when i say johns for jones. Being unable to read or write could have potentially led to jones being recorded instead of johns

Oh dear - they were in Monmouth on 1901, so this could be the youngest child's birth, but it isn't a lot of help as it gives his mother's maiden name as Johns!

JOHNS, MARK    mmn   JOHNS
1898  M Quarter
MONMOUTH
Volume 11A  Page 24

Thanks  groom, literally just found that record. Just have to try and find a family with eliza and sister sarah to confirm if she was a johns. I know that cousins did marry in the family so cpuld be right

The GRO Index Search has had Mother's Maiden Name showing for just over a year :D

This will be shown for almost all births between 1837 and 1916.

Trying to have a look now, not having much luck at the moment. I never found birth certificates. Just baptism records. Assumed this was because they were travellers
