Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Re: Date photo postcard please
« on: Tuesday 17 July 12 14:17 BST (UK)  »
Thanks for the replies

There are only two possible candidates for the child, one born in 1900 .... and one born in 1912

I had a feeling this photo could not be taken in 1901, Looks like Jim1 has it spot on.

Thanks

This is a photo postcard (13.5cm x 8.5cm), taken in Northumberland,
If I get an approx date it will help me to identify the infant.

Thanks

For some reason there was an increase in illegitimate births in the years 1939 - 1945   ;)

Visiting the <a href="http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/en/Residents/BirthDeathMarriage_Citizenship/GenealogyCentre/">Genealogy Centre</a> in Glasgow or <a href="http://www.scotlandspeoplehub.gov.uk/">ScotlandsPeople Centre</a> in Edinburgh may be the best option for this search

I imagine such a random search may take the best part of a visit to complete

At least you would be able to check out all the ones you found online

Sure you are not trying to enter the years into the ages box?

Any clues in the childen's names?

There was a tradition in Scotland to name the first daughter after the maternal grandmother, and the second son after the maternal grandfather.

If they married in Anderston then that may have been where Margaret was from.... there are 2 hits for a Margaret Harvey aged between 15 - 25 in Anderston on the 1861 census.

It may be worth checking them to see if any names tie in?

Have you tried the Margaret Harvey who married a Daniel Docherty in Glasgow High Church district 1864?
