I Just checked with one of my cousins and the people in the picture are as follows:
Three Ferrell sisters. Mary Davidson (nee Ferrell) on the left, Lettie & Jane Ferrell the last two on the right, and the two young girls are Jeannie and Isabella the daughters of Mary.
Sorry for earlier confusion.

I will scan another picture or two that I have and try and add them for interests sake if I can do so.

I think the ornament was a lady holding a light bulb which could be turned on. A few years back I asked my aunt what happened to it and she said it was left there because the house they moved to was a bungalow duplex with no stairs. It may be something sheet  and Teddy bought, I don't remember.
I did send a private message to the person who posted the picture. Thank you for the guidance.

Peggy and Bill. She was the teacher, my mother's oldest sister. Bill was a sea going engineer and assisted during the Dieppe evacuation. Their son still lives locally.

I remember the brass statue on the stair post and the washroom in the rear yard at 59.

My parents were married at St. Mary's and we were christened there. I think most, if not all the Ferrell family were too.

On my father's side, my great, great grandfather was at one time the station master in Blyth but my grandfather emigrated to Canada in 1905.

Do you know the fellow who started this post after acquiring the photo? He hasn't looked at it since 2012 so not sure he will check back. Is there a way to send private messages to someone on this site? I just signed on when I happened on the photo and hoped to contact him. Thanks

Seeing as you were referring to 1941 I would guess it was either Lettie  who lived to be 102 years old or her sister Jjane. When I was a child my aunt Mary Dunn lived at 59 and Peggy Lynn lived at 57. My grandfather Tom lived down the street. I recall going down to play with the Fairbairn (sp) twins in the area.  There was also a round pond where we sailed our sailboats but if you were unlucky, they sailed against a stone column in the middle and were hard to retrieve. So long ago. I still have a "Star" sailboat like the one I used to have.

Hello,

Of the six girls, 5 were teachers including my mother. Margaret  (Peggy)  to me, lived on Marine Terrace as did her sister, Mary who was the non teacher. She worked for many years for the Blyth Co-op. Peggy became what we call a Principal, like her father. I attended classes at her school going to Form 1 and 2 while we were visiting  from Canada. If it was the same school, there was a model boat on display that had been used to pull people in another boat but i don't remember more than that. The two aunts on the right of the picture were also teachers who never married but I don't know where they taught.

As someone already said, the Davidson father had a music store in town.

The photo is of Isabelle and Mary davidson, their aunts Leticia and Jane Ferrell and the other lady is, I would guess the girls mother. My mother was the youngest of the 6 Ferrell sisters, daughters of Tom Ferrell a teacher in Blyth.

Could the owner of the photo contact me please. Most of my cousins are in Britain but as can be understood, all our surnames are those of our father's.

One cousin lives just outside Blyth.  Thank you.

I joined this site after coming across the photo while searching information regarding my Aunt Belle

Northumberland / Davidson Family Photo

Hello, I live in Canada. My mother was a Ferrell from Blyth and the Davidson were cousins.

Belle married Norman Hester, lived in London and was first violin in the London Philharmonic under Malcolm Sargeant, conductor. She and her husband who played the double bass both played in the Proms and elsewhere.

Bell's sister died young.

After Bell's death, Norman moved to Seaton Sluice and passed away there.

I have a photo of Belle taken during her career on the wall and many other photos of the family. Her father did have a music store in Blyth. I have a photo in which it can be seen.

My sister and I may be the only connection left as Belle had no children and her sister died prior to marriage.

Les
