Kiltaglassan,

As per my previous reply to one of your posts, I note that you have a habit of posting links to easily accessible information, for reasons I don't understand.

aghadowey,

Apologies,I should have confirmed in my last post that the Church of Ireland in Coole (Mayne) is no longer in use as a church.

trevalyn,

I am delighted to hear of your success. I will sort out getting the photos to you (I'm a bit slow with digital stuff). The RCB Library is an excellent resource. Will the CWGC provide a memorial for Nathaniel.

Regards,

Feichin

Hello trevalyn,

I visited Saint Nicholas Church of Ireland Cemetery in Coole today.

I could find no Crawford grave markers there, this didn't surprise me. That said, quite a number of the headstones are so weather beaten that any inscription has long since vanished. Some of the others were I suspect just markers and never had an inscription.

The cemetery itself is in very good condition and has recent burials. Perhaps a local undertaker would be able to provide you with the contact details of whoever is maintaining it. They could have some further information.

Regards,

Feichin

P.S. I took a handful of photos of the cemetery if they are of any interest to you.

Hello trevalyn,

Firstly may I commend you on your quest, it is a very worthy cause.

I noticed that Nathaniel's parents' marriage, his baptism, his and his mother's deaths were all registered in Coole. I would be inclined to start a search there.

I know that there is a Church of Ireland church in Coole, but I don't think that it is still operating as a church. There is a cemetery beside it.

I would be happy to wander around the cemetery (if I'm allowed) the next time I am in that area (which probably won't be for a month or two), and see if there are any Crawford grave markers. I doubt there is, but sometimes you can be surprised.

If the church in Coole is closed it might be worth contacting the Church of Ireland head office to see if they have any Coole records. Contacting the Church of Ireland in Castlepollard is another option (a lovely church, worth a visit). A quick internet search will give you contact details for both the above.

Regards,

Feichin

P.S. Interesting witnesses on Nathaniel's parents marriage record.

With regards to Pakenham Hall (Tullynally Castle), it just depends on what gate you come out of whether you are nearer Castlepollard or Coole.

Coole considerably further away than Castlepollard.
Pakenhamhall or Tullynally townland.

Kiltaglassan,

I note that you have a habit of posting links to easily accessible information, for reasons I don't understand.

Anyway I stand over my statement, perhaps you should have read it properly before posting a reply. i could say the same about your reply in the Halpins thread.

Hello Kelger123,

I don't know if your last post was meant to be a reply to mine.

Anyway here is my thoughts on the information as given. I think that the reference to Delvin was made by someone who is confusing the civil and church records. With regards to Pakenham Hall (Tullynally Castle), it just depends on what gate you come out of whether you are nearer Castlepollard or Coole.

Hi,  My family, Connor, Lee, Reil, and Duff, originated on the Pakenham Estate and lived in the Kiltoom area which is part of the townland of Faughalstown.  The more recent baptisms and marriages were held in Mayne parish church in Coole however, some of the earlier ones were said to be in the Delvin parish.  I have never found any records of my family in Delvin.  I would have thought Castlepollard would have covered the area but no.  Can anyone shed light on when the changes were made and am I right to continue to search Delvin?

Hello Kelger123,

Could you clarify what you mean by "more recent" and "earlier" in year terms. Also what exactly you were told about Delvin.

Regards,

Feichin

I noticed a post regarding Halpin in Ozaukee, County Wisconsin.  I am a descendent of Thomas and Caterine Carny(Kearny) and Patrick Halpin.  I have been to Cedarburg, WI and maybe can be of assistance.  Does anyone know when Thomas Halpin emmigrated to the USA.

Thanks
JCoash

Hello JCoash,

I believe Thomas emigrated to the USA in 1842 / 1843, though I never came across any absolute proof of this.
