Wiltshire Lookup Requests / Re: Gabriel PECKFORD/PICKFORD/PICKFATT
« on: Saturday 05 January 08 08:31 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks for this - yes I do have this marriage between Gabriel Pickford and Remalia Carier (Amelia Carter) - but I can't get back any further at the moment - I thought I had Gabriel baptised in 1780 in Frome, son of John, just the right age to tally with his army record, but there is a burial of Gabriel son of John 13 years later, and although there are 2 or 3 Pickford families in the area at this time I haven't been able to find another Gabriel - so it's a complete brick wall at the moment.
I am most grateful for your help,
Anne

Wiltshire Lookup Requests / Gabriel PECKFORD/PICKFORD/PICKFATT
« on: Thursday 03 January 08 13:34 GMT (UK)  »
I wonder if anyone has come across Gabriel Peckford/Pickford born/baptised c.1780. He gave his birthplace as Frome on his army discharge papers in 1814, but the only Gabriel I could find in Frome or surrounding parishes born c.1780 was buried there in 1793. He was a sawyer by trade and may be the son of John Pickford, sawyer, living at Lower Gibbons Moor, close to the Longleat estate and the Wiltshire county boundary. I had assumed that they were related to the Gabriel, John and Daniel Pickfords who came from Great Elm, Somerset, but can't find a link in the Somerset records, and am wondering whether they in fact originated in Wiltshire?

If anyone has come across this family in the course of their research I would be most grateful to be pointed in the right direction.

Many thanks,
Anne

For Sale / Wanted / Events / Re: handheld MicroFiche Readers for sale
« on: Monday 23 January 06 19:05 GMT (UK)  »
Dear Earley-Bird I would very much like to purchase a hand held microfiche reader.  Do you have any left? If, so how much are they, and how do I go about paying you?
Look forward to hearing from you.
best wishes,
Anne Johnson
