My grandfather lived in those now ruined cottages, he then moved to Newcastle upon Tyne where he married my Grandmother. At outbreak of the great war enlisted in the Royal Artillery. Killed on Somme 29/09/1918,.buried at British War Cemetery at Mouvres just off the Albert to Bepaume road. My wife and I have visited his grave on a regular basis. His name is John Redpath.
