Galway / Re: Hall Loughrea Galway
« on: Wednesday 08 June 11 06:05 BST (UK)  »
Hi Kilcreest,
Yes I am connected to the Halls who had the Draper's shop.  It was run by John Hall until he died around 1913 and then taken over by his daughter Delia Cunniffe nee Hall. Delia died early 1970 so perhaps she had sold it by then.  I have been told that no relatives are still living from this family.  However, I would be pleased if anyone can come up with a photograph of Delia.

Hi Glen,
I would appreciate if you come across anyone on that Deely line to let me know.  Also if you have any Loughrea contacts, I am looking for a photo of Delia Cunniff nee Hall.  I am related to her line through my Halls.
Last time I was in Loughrea I talked to Gerard McInerney who has the supermarket in Loughrea.  He knew Delia Hall so he may also know more about your Deelys.

Hi Glen,
I only have a tree on GenesReunited. However, I don't have much on deelys.  From Loughrea records I have that Ann Deely is the daughter of John Deely and Ellen Fahy born 1815 from memory.   Richard Hall and Ann Deely married in 1835 in Loughrea then they moved to London where they stayed.

Lanarkshire / Re: Cathcart, Cathcart Old Parish and Linn

Back on the trail of my Edgars. Can anyone tell me in what years the Old Cathcart Cemetery was used?  Looking for Jane Edgar nee Smith died between 1851 and 1855 and James Edgar (her husband) died 1874 in Cathcart. I very much doubt if they had a headstone but who and where would details of the burial be, East Renfrewshire Council or elsewhere?  Have a trip coming up in May and if I know where to look might have a go at it.  Thanks

I hope I am not butting in here but I am from Australia and am looking for a Logan/Shiels connection in East Lothian. I am particualy interested to the family of Marion shiels Logan born ca 1833 daughter of John Logan and Catherine nee Jackson.  I can find the family on the censuses until 1861 then Cathrine dies 1863 and I cannot find John or his death.  They lived in Haddington and he says he was born Gladsmuir ca 1795. If anyone knows of a Logan Shiels connection I would be grateful.  I have a Jane & Peter Logan born 1825 and 1830ish respectively supposed children of James Logan and Jane Brock.  No other siblings known. Jane left Scotland 1848 and Peter went to US ending up in Aus. in 1852. Possibly on 1841 in Tranent Peter son of Widow Logan unable to find Jane. ANY help appreciated.

Hi Anne,
Have you found a death certificate for Bryne in Scotland, or Catherine nee McFadzen?  Also have you some of the birth certs. for Martin & Catherine Oates' children.  Some of the Scottish birth certificate have a place of birth for the parents.  You should check.  Just some thoughts.  I always try to search on Ancestry eg. Bry* McQueen* because this give you more variations, Ancestry allows you to search with three letters and then an asterix. Hope this helps.

Galway / West Galway Records Online
« on: Sunday 03 February 08 06:12 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All,
Anyone with West Galway ancestors will be pleased to learn that the West Galway History Centre have put their records online. The index is free to search but costs to look at the actual records. Go to http://galwaywest.brsgenealogy.com. Hope I got that right. Googling West Galway History Centre will get it too.
