Happy New Year to all you wonderful posters. I am able to type very slowly but have gone over all your posts and hopefully answered to best of my ability:

On the 1898 marriage certificate, how is Alfred's marital status listed and what is his occupation? (Batchelor)
On the 1890 birth certificate, who is the informant (Annie Agnes Maria Esse) formerly Gough) and what is Alfred's occupation?  (Publican)
On the 1900 birth certificate, who is the informant (E.A. Esse)and what is Alfred's occupation? (Commercial Traveller).
On both birth certificates, What was the address of birth (on Dorothy’s certificate, address reads (Great Totham, R.S.D.) and on Christina’s certificate address reads (1440 Gordon Road, Ealing, R.S.D).and address of informant? (Both mothers were the informants).

I see that his mother, Emma, died in 1912 and left probate in 1913 Alfred's older brother Walter was the executor. A copy of her will might offer useful info. (Will see if I have it, if not, will try and get it.)
The second child Christine Margaret Hathaway Esse was born in Ealing on 27 June 1900 - I have birth certificate.' (Typo should have been 17th June)
The birth was announced on the 23 June to have occurred on the 17 June:
The Mart, the 17th of June, at Gordon Road, Ealing, the wife of Alfred Esse, of a daughter.
Published: Saturday 23 June 1900
Newspaper: Middlesex County Times

Annie Agnes GOUGH at the 1893 marriage to Charles PILGRIM  stated she was 28, a spinster.  She shared his address- 52 Darwin Street and her father was William GOUGH, deceased, a carpenter.
Charles was 25, a bachelor, a coalminer. Son of William PILGRIM, a coalminer .
Witnesses were James THREDGOLD and Mary WRIGHT.
Charles was 25, a bachelor, a coachman. Son of William PILGRIM, a coachman.
Witnesses were William James THREDGOLD and Mary WRIGHT.
It seems they can’t even get the occupations correct back then.

There is a baptism for Dorothy in a Roman Catholic church in Battersea 1890; naming parents as Alfred and Annie. (Where can I find this please? I can only find a birth).

I have come to the conclusion that Alfred did not want to be found and just fell off the edge of the earth.

There is some unusual information about Alfred and where he lived and who with. one in particular was the 1891 Electoral Register showing him with EE Esse - this maybe his mother Emma Elizabeth Esse - EE Esse - at least I am hoping this is his mother.)

London and Middlesex / GOUGH MARRIED ESSE - I think
« on: Sunday 03 November 24 06:06 GMT (UK)  »
Need some detective work please.
I have an ancestor by the name of Alfred Esse born 12 May 1868 Ealing London who had a child a child with an Annie Agnes Gough. The child Dorothy Gertrude Esse was born on 13 April 1890 Great Totham England. Don't know if he married Annie.

Alfred later married Ethel Cannon on 16 March 1898 – I have marriage certificate - and they had two children, John born 1 April 1899 – died 21st May 1899. The second child Christine Margaret Hathaway Esse was born in Ealing on 27 June 1900 - I have birth certificate.
He disappeared sometime after the birth of Christine and has not been recorded anywhere at all.
Birth/Death/Marriage/Census/and everything I can think off has been searched by me and a cousin.
Ethel is recorded in the 1911 census with her daughter aged 10 and living with her parents the Cannon family - also in another census when Christine was 1 year old.
Thank you for help or guidance.

Wow, what a fantastic group of people.  Thankyou all so much, so much information to absorb and followup on. This will keep me happy for a long time.
Still got lots to do sorting out between Ada Em(m)aline and Ada Emily, bearing in mind the "Underhill" surname.
Very much appreciated. Cheers, Dianne

Australia / HORACE BOURBARD AND WIFE ADA
« on: Friday 19 April 24 07:33 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,
I would like some guidance about the above couple. I know Horace was born in France and that he and his wife Ada travelled on board the "Bahia Castillo" departing London on 17th April 1920. I don't know when they arrived in the UK and I can't find them in Australia or when they actually arrived.
My son-in-law knew his grandfather, Kenneth Charles son of Horace and Ada. Kenneth's parents divorced in 1937 and his mother Ada remarried in 1939 to a "Charles". Kenneth took on the new family name of Charles. Probably no paperwork ever done...
If anyone can send me some advice, that would be great. Thank you. Dianne
