Hi,

Thats Derryvore (no "u")  ;)

I'm a Goodwin of Derryvore and have full history on both Derryvore and Gubb families. And for a third in nearby Kevenagh too!

Despite being so geographically close, I have yet to find any family evidence that these families are connected. But I remain confident they are for various reasons.

Dublin / Re: Richmond Monkstown - death 1857 Pim

I'm new to this forum so only seeing this now.

As previously advised, the Pims were Quakers so the Friends Burial Ground at Temple Hill, Blackrock is worth investigation.

As regards Richmond (aka Richmond Park) I know this house and its inhabitants quite well and never encountered a Pim living there in that period. (which isn't to deny that a Pim could have died there as a visitor)

But they occupied many houses in the immediate area (and probably owned a lot more).
One such house was on nearby Richmond HILL and I notice a "Mrs Pim" died there on 22 July 1857 "in her 57th year." (Dublin Evening Post 30 Jul 1857).

To confuse things, Richmond Park is located very close to Richmond Hill and Richmond Park house was, at one time, called Richmond Hill but not so recently as 1857.

Wicklow / Re: Firstname used in USA was Delia, what is that short for?

Delia is commonly used in Ireland as a pet name for Bridget. I read somewhere that Bedelia was used as the Latin for Bridget in Baptisms but I can't vouch for this.

I tried looking for ...McGuigan

That's great work Gaffy.

I've heard of the McGuigan/Goodwin connection but never encountered this among my Goodwin's (aka Gudden, Goodin, Godin) in South Fermanagh. Discovering a specific re-registration is very informative. I'm guessing this surname association was peculiar to a single family rather than a more widespread practise within the 'clan'.

Still can't see Annie (1919) in GRO or GRONI searches - I'm guessing not yet updated under 100 year rule.

Good luck with your searching.

Looking for any information about a large family of Goodwins in the Fermanagh area. Not all of the children were alive at the same time. Interested to know if any members of the family still live in the area. Younger members of the family were born around 1916 - 1920. Annie Goodwin, born in 1919, moved to London in the 1940s with some of her siblings.

Hi
Just happened on your posting.

Are you sure about Annie's YOB? No one of that name registered in 1919 or 1920 in Fermanagh.
Do you have names of any siblings?

regards
Michael

P.S. Not really sure what you mean by "Not all of the children were alive at the same time". Taken literally, and barring a super-multiple birth,  this would describe every family :)

Single Males
Michael Fitzpatrick - 22
John Goodwin - 23
Cathe Goodwin -18
Eliz Fitzpatrick - 18
All from Fermanagh, Ireland

Hi,

I'm newly registered and this caught my eye.

John (John James) & Catherine GOODWIN were siblings of my Great grandfather Patrick (c.1852 - c.1930) of Derryvore, Fermanagh (part of Crom landed estate, where Pat was the head boatman).

I believe those FITZPATRICK passengers on the Hudson might be their cousins as Patrick's mother was Margaret Fitzpatrick (1818 - 1901). Unfortunately, I have yet to research the Fitzpatrick branch.

regards

Michael
