He is on the 1939 register, paint sprayer. Married.
   Beaten to it, bumble!

I suppose he could have worked at Rover in Solihull , that may have excluded him from serving?

Hi, unfortunately we haven’t been able to find out , the 1931 census that may have helped us was destroyed in the war.

We have a pic of Albert as a best man at his nephews wedding on 12th August 1944, but that’s all we have for him in war time.

Albert is circled.

I seem to be doing something wrong as I’ve found 2 other relatives involvement in ww1 and ww2.

This relative I can’t find!

Albert Coley bn 27 May 1914
Died 10 Sept 2001

Born in Ledbury
Died in Birmingham

Was a car paint sprayer on his death certificate.

He would have been 25 when WW2 started, but I can’t find any record of him serving

Can anyone give me a starting clue to I can start hunting?

Edith died in 1945 sadly of cancer , John never remarried , we don’t have a location for her burial / cremation either at this stage

Update : found her grave at Northern Cemetery Bulwell notts, her husband isn’t buried there tho

My partner and I are on Ancestry and are trying to find out if her GG uncle John William Coley 1899-1972 was buried or cremated , he died in Chestnuts care home in Ross on Wye in 1972 ( no longer there ) I’ve searched the relevant council cemetery records but nothing appears.

Can anyone give us a starter for ten on how to find out if he was buried or cremated , do cremation lists exist?

He was born William John Coley but didn’t seem to ever use that version of his name , his first and Second World War service also used the name John William Coley

I’m going to assume the answer is no, but I will ask anyway , are Hospital records kept digitised somewhere ? Would love to see the medical records of a relative who was born 1896 and died 1936 , I have the asylum records of her sad death but would find it fascinating to read what led up to the admission , asylum records say epilepsy and insanity. She was from Ledbury.
