Tipperary / Daniel Doolan
« on: Monday 29 May 17 22:48 BST (UK)  »
Hi Rob, that probably is the Daniel Doolan I'm looking for, although he would have been aged 69 in 1903, not a big difference from age recorded as 65. For some reason I can't find him on BDM website, I'll have to come back to that later.
I've done a marriage search for Catherine and Mary and found nothing in Australia, to search National Archives I need to know spouse name, so where should I go from here?
Have you found out anymore about the Doolans of Tubrid Tipperary? I looked through phone book yesterday and found no Doolans in Tubrid.
Incidentally I think there are more Doolans in Australia than anywhere else in the world.

Hi Rob,
maybe you already know that no records for Catholic birth deaths and marriages were kept before 1829 [maybe a few] so if John Doolan was born in Ireland after that date, there should be a record.
Thanks to Daniel O'Connell's Catholic emancipation that changed after 1829.
If your Doolans came from England, I presume they have records pre 1829.
How would I find a death record for Daniel Doolan? whats the fee?
Bye for now
Tom.

Oh the errors we make when trying to make haste.
Apart from my typo where I left out the "h" ... I did misread the name as Willoughby which is the name of a suburb not far from here in Sydney.
With hand written text I will have to slow right down and look instead of trusting what the mind wants me to see.
Thank you Maggsie for being on the ball.
I'm still grinning though.
Rob
My Mother is Mary Doolan from Killoughy parish.

I've just found a Daniel Doolan who arrived in Sydney in 1858 aboard the Forest Monarch, and Catherine and Mary Doolan arrived in Sydney aboard the Star of Brunswick in 1865, not sure but they're probably my ancestors.
Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Westmeath / Re: Keegans Ballinabrackey Kinnegad

My ancestor Patrick Keegan came from Baltigeer Ballinabrackey near Kinnegad, maybe around 1860, he married Bridget Daly Derryroe Castletown Geoghegan Co. Westmeath.
I've heard Patricks brothers and sisters emigrated to Argentina, about 2 years ago I discovered some went to America, I have no info on Baltigeer Keegans that went to America, I have relatives in America who are decended from the Castletown Keegans.
Francis is a common name in our branch too.
The Keegan headstone is in Kilkeran Cemetary Ballinabrackey, the earliest name on it is James Keegan 1776, the last name is Ellen Keegan 1880.

Hi Sandra,
I'm looking for Doolans that went to Australia from about 1850 to 1890. They lived near The Blue Ball Tullamore and Mount Bolus.
Winnyfred Doolan married Patrick Doolan in 1883 [Dooolan married Doolan]
they had four children before they emigrated,
Peter born Mar 1884
Roseanne  Jan 1886
Catherine May 1888
Mary Ellen July 1890
Winnyfred's brothers James and Thomas [twins] Daniel, and sisters Mary and Catherine had emigrated before her, although I'm not 100% sure if they all went.
Incidentally I have an uncle in Toowoomba [not a Doolan]

[Winnyfred's husband was Patrick not Peter, my mistake.]
That family went to Australia.

Rose Nell, Mary Doolan, Aunts of my Mother went to New York.
