Essex / Re: Colchester. Fishmongers Halls & Bare/Bear
« on: Thursday 08 October 20 21:23 BST (UK)  »
Dear Nicholas and Doreen
My family Halls lived in Essex .   My Gt.Grandfather was a fishmonger in Barking and also a Greengrocer in Barking and East Ham.   His daughter also had a greengrocers shop in East Ham. He was also a fried fish dealer in Tollesbury Essex and his son was a fishmonger.
I am not familiar with the names Nicholas has given for the family.    Although the family did come from Suffolk.    If I can find a connection I will let you know.

Dear Little_Fagg
John Dyster was married to Sarah Hibbs, she came from Kirby-le-Soken, Essex.   On one website it states they had 10 children.   Thomas Dyster their son born 1812 was convicted of house breaking in Chelmsford . He was aged 14 .  He was sent to the hulks and was eventually transported to Diemen's Land Australia in 1827.   Thomas Dyster's daughter Mary Alice married Walter Edward Halls in 1883 in Burra South Australia.   He was my Gt. Gt. Uncle.

Thank you for replying also for the information on the forum.  I was only recently aware of the situation which was disconcerting .  A researcher in Australia I asked for help sent me information.  Then I saw your posting on the forum and thought I should give as much information as I could as this will benefit those researching the marriages.  I am going to London next week to visit some major research facilities.  Hopefully, I will get some more information which I will pass on.

Walter Edward Halls father's name is correct i.e. James.  Mother's name Sarah Ann(e) .   Her surname changed on official documents to Hearn(e).     The Birth Index information for Walter would appear to be correct  .   I have lots of information on this family from 1797.       I noticed one posting said that Walter Edward Halls was a widower when he married Mary Alice Dyster . I will look into this further.
