Hi JenB
This fits as her birthplace on the 1881 census was Northumberland
Her parents were on the 1881 census although Eleanor was recorded as Head of the family
May I ask where the codes you refer to are located?
Thanks
Linda

Hello all and thanks for the warm welcome

Hi Rosie99 I have George in Monkwearmoutb in Sunderland at time of death
1891 Eleanor is Charles street, Monkwearmouth shore

Thanks JJen I was struggling with the searches on Ancestry and am not entirely sure of the references you've given being new to this. Where do I find these - just starting out on this side of the family. The rest are so far in NE Scotland and the Highlands so got most of those details on Scotlandspeople site

The date for George ties in with his death and the dates for Eleanor might be a second marriage?
She had so many name variations linked to the search

JenB - that is him. He was a police officer and I wondered what happened to him

Linda
Thanks again for all your responses

I am trying to find information relating to George Herd who moved to Sunderland County Durham from Scotland he was born1844 to Thomas and Mary and died 1877. Married to Eleanor(Elleanor) neč Chisholm, son Alexander and daughter Margaret Chisholm Herd( my Great Grandmother)

I can't find marriage or death certificates for George or Eleanor(the latter seems to have several first name spellings and several last names (Hood, Herd, Wood)
I can find the 1881 and 1891 census for Eleanor and the children after which I can't find her.
Does anyone know if she remarried or did she also die young.

Grateful for any help :)

Hi
I'm new to the site and realise this post was a wee while ago. I found your info through searching Easter Toux online ... my Dads Grannie was married there in 1899. She was the daughter of George Herd (the policeman who moved to England) I wondered if anyone had any more information regarding George who died 1st July 1877
I found census for 1881 and 1891 for his wife and children in Sunderland, County Durham but have no idea what happened.
Your information has confirmed my own search
Thank you
L
