Hello,
Thank you for your message.  I checked, I do have Louisa Kaines married to William Heal in my tree.....but not in the way that you'd think.  I'm going to try and explain.
The Kaines family are related to my maternal grandfather's side of the family.  However, Louisa appears on my maternal grandmother's side of the family:

William and Louisas daughter Alice Heal married James Smith I have a DNA connection with his great granddaughter "S Ayson" who would be my 6th cousin.

As far as I can tell I have no relation to Louisa Kaines who is from the Somerset Kaines' whilst my grandfathers family descended from the Dorset Kaines family.  How very strange though that there would be a connection anyway.
Thank you for getting in touch, that was very kind of you to take the time.

Lynne

Thanks for the encouragement Dawn.  I did post a reply on an old post for a different family name (same tree) and got a reply within 20 minutes and have had so much assistance from this person, she had pages and pages of information on my grandfather's family.
You never know what you're going to uncover, this is a great way of getting in touch with people looking for the same thing.

Sorry the 1849 link just takes me to the same list and I can't find any other list.

I did find that official record keeping at the Greffe (Government Offices/Town Hall) didn't start until some time in 1840.  I am having problems with my own tree and don't seem to be able to go beyond that point with any Guernsey relatives.  There's a few newspaper cuttings and sometimes you can find death announcements, but before then I don't think there was any official record keeping.

Good luck with your searching.

There is a list of all the people who died in the cholera outbreak in Guernsey, I found my great great grandmother on there Henrietta Sophia Kaines.  I do have a newspaper clipping with the announcement of her death which was recorded as consumption which it says she'd suffered with for many years.
My guess is that the cholera mixed with her consumption was not a good match and she died.  I suppose that it was less painful to admit she'd died of a long term illness than cholera.  She was only in her 27 when she died and left four young children behind her.
I think I found the list on the Jerripedia site, here is all their information regarding cholera in the islands https://www.theislandwiki.org/index.php?title=Special%3ASearch&search=cholera&go=Go

The original post was a long time ago, but I'm searching the Kaines family tree and have lots of information/pictures that would be of interest to anyone also searching.
I do have a huge question mark about one of the branches in my tree that I'd like to sort out so anyone else with a Kaines tree, please contact me.

Thank you - Lynne

This is a long shot because that message was left years ago, but I am the great great grand daughter of Edward Luckhurst and have recently discovered lots of information about him that I'm willing to share.
Anyone researching Edward or his descendants please contact me I'd be happy to hear from you.
