Thanks Sharon
Yes I have spoken with Bruce and yes a great person he was only able to tell me the dates of the funerals and their Register number but he had not see the actual Register. With this info I was lucky enough to locate the Burial Register for Cootamundra Sept 1884 to Aug 1940 in which I also found names, dates and cost of each of my families  burials but not the locations at the Cemetery. I have contacted Bruce and advised him of the location of the Register

The book is also held at the National Library of Australia, in Canberra ACT, and State Library of NSW (Sydney) and State Library of Victoria (Melbourne).

As you are in Australia perhaps your public library can arrange an inter-library loan ?

JM

Thanks to you JM

How does one access the Australian Board ?
Have contacted member of Cootamundra Historical Society re there new publication on the Cootamundra Cemetery not sure if this will help as I spent several hours  photographing head stones myself and will overlay on the copy's of the cemetery plans that the library has .
As family members have no Headstones the task is a little harder but sure there must be records
some were of all persons burial locations .

Ron

Hi Ron,
   Welcome to rootschat  ;)

This site http://www.australiancemeteries.com.au/nsw/cootamundra/cootamundragen.htm directs you to here http://familyhistoryact.org.au/index.php/research

They say they have extensive cemetery records and transcripts and give an e-mail address for queries.

Ros

Hi Ros

Thanks for welcome, it's early days yet and I am persistent .

Cootamundra has a heritage centre perhaps contacting them may help.

Also try contacting the Cootamundra Library it has been my experience that a lot of libraries

have copies of their cemetery records. I think the transcripts of the cemetery were originally

done by a Canberra group. Australian Cemetery Index should give you contact details.

Hope this is of some use, sorry I can't help further but will be out all day.

Cheers
Joy

Thanks Joy
