Hello I think I have a piece to your puzzle... Tom Crickerd b 1847/1852 came from Ireland ended up in Workington married Sarah Harris. Had children Tom,Johnny,Hugh and Alice Ann(twins). Your right the name has changed. Tom from Ireland was my Granda's(still with us) Great Granda and his Granda was Tom Hugh was his brother. He cant remember the twins but Im also trying to trace them and the other Crickerds/McCrickerds going back over to Ireland. Have you discovered any more info in your search? We have been told their is many in County Down :-)

Hello :-) My Grandas(still with me) his Grandma was Martha Lowther (Hawker) whos Dad was Charles Robert Lowther and Mum Margaret Lowther they had other children Ellen,Jane,Wilfred and Ann. Me and my Granda would love to have any info you have about them passed on. We have struggled to find places of birth etc or any record of the family with them being travellers. My Granda idolised Martha and said she was a lovely woman(she sold fish) She married Tom Crickerd. Im excited to hear from you :-) Any stories, books to read etc would be grand. I know that the families base was at Potters Lonning,Workington.

Pottery lodge seems to be associated with the Trousdale pottery manufacturers.  I imagine these are outhouses that families stayed in while they bought new merchandise.

Pottery Lodge also Potters Lonning!
:) These Lowthers are my relatives!!! Theirs a few more children to be added though :-) Thank you for sharing this!

Wow... At a long shot I thought Id type in my Granda's Grandma's name Ive been relentlessly trying to trace my roots... She was Martha Lowther a grand lady (hawker) married to Tom Crickerd. Her Dad was Chucky Bob Lowther...(Charles Robert Lowther)  Martha and a lot of my family lived on Potters Lonning in Workington.. Was knocked down long before I was born.. I have a photograph of the grand lady and had the honour of meeting her daughter also Martha (My Grandads aunty) Who was also a grand lady  :) My Grandad speaks highly of Martha and says she was a lovely woman. Also sold fish. Our family also has a connection to the Millers of Whitehaven... We may be related  :)
