Oxfordshire / Speakers House, Henley-on-Thames, 1930s

A question for any experts on Speakers House!

During the 1930s, it appears that historic Speakers House comprised three addresses in Hart Street, Henley-on-Thames - nos. 44, 48 and 50.  I believe that no. 48 was a Doctor's practice at this time and no. 50 was privately occupied.  No. 44 was also privately occupied, by two separate tenants, and must have been divided into two flats at that time.  These days, the whole of no. 44 Hart Street is occupied by a real estate agent.

I am interested in a couple that resided at no. 44 in the early 1930s - in fact I know from online electoral rolls at FindMyPast that they were there during much of the latter part of the 1920s and then up until 1933.  Unfortunately, the Oxfordshire electoral rolls are not online after 1931, but I do know that between 1934 and 1937 at least - per electoral rolls that have been reviewed manually - that no. 44 remained empty throughout while nos. 48 and 50 continued to be occupied.

I'm wondering if anybody might know if there was some kind of refurbishment or restoration work at no. 44 that might have been going on through the period 1934 to (at least) 1937 that might have required the existing tenants to relocate.

I'm interested to find where the couple at no. 44 might have moved to after 1933 and if the move was an enforced one, I am thinking that it is much more likely that they might well have stayed in the area.

Kent / Kent Electoral Registers

Ancestry now has quite a comprehensive collection of searchable English county electoral registers online, typically covering from the 1830s to the 1970s.

Kent is one of the few exceptions.  Anybody have any insight into whether digitisation of the Kent electoral registers might be in the works?  And if not, is there any reason why Kent registers might be problematic in terms of future digitisation?

Cheers

To my eyes, there are two sets of amendments, clearly written in two different hands at two different times.

The birthdate was amended at the same time that the date 29-6-48 was added along with the 1939 Register Area Code DYD, which corresponds to Henley.  So this amendment occurred in 1948 at Henley, probably associated with the advent of the new NHS.

The author of the other changes - the addition of Louise and what might be 'EHA' above it - was using a different pen, with a noticeably thicker nib.  I have assumed this amendment pre-dates the 1948 amendments, but cannot be sure of course.

So I'm still left with the question of the meaning of this 'EHA' annotation, if indeed it is EHA and whether it is an Area Code.

That is indeed Emily.  Her forenames were certainly Emily Louise, but there was never any 'Ella' associated with her name.

I know where they were in the first years after the War and then Henley after that.  It is this 'EHA' that has me intrigued as a pointer to a possible Eastbourne location at some point during the War years.  But if not an Area Code, and it is certainly not 'Ella', what else might it be?

Are there records accessible to the public that might show ownership of a particular property in the Gerard's Cross area in the 1930s or 1940s?

Or would that timeframe be still too recent to address privacy concerns?
