As you can see this sepia picture is scuffed and wonder if it is possible to 'clean it up'. The red on the shoulder was a family member trying to clean it up.

World War One / Re: Mentioned in Dispatches WW1

Hi,

I have seen the 3 x MIC's and all they show are the EM/2 number for the emblem, with date of issue.

Ancestry.com was searched and I found some service details but no more information.

It is doubtful that I will find the reason for the award but I would like to confirm that the details on the MIC's are correct which can only be done by looking up the appropriate LG.

Where can I find details of recipients of MID's WW1. Is there a specific place that hold's records. I have tried London Gazette but no joy. Also the National Archives on line.

Thanks for that, it worked. Help ! Great Grandad had three more children we did not know about !!!!! This census will probably throw up all sorts of info.

I have been trying to search on the 1911 census (the free search). Each time I put in the details it tells me I must always use the surname field. I am putting the surname in but it does not seem to recognise it. Any idea's please.

Would suggest you contact RA Museum Woolwich to see if they can assist further. They have E mail and WWW sites.
