I have found William Henry Moore serving in 2nd Battalion, The Devonshire Regiment, in Malta at the time of the 1911 census.

Hi Zingarakj,

Sounds right, My mother was a Moore and I knew 2 of her brothers, Will who lived in Shute and Ernie who lived in Clapton when I knew them.  I hope your Grandfather was Ernie as I knew them and their children very well.  My father and Will identified the body when William Henry was killed. I suspect he wasn't called up because of his railway work which would have been deemed important to the war effort.  I have had no success tracing his army service, I thought I had a hot lead but it was a red herring,  I shall press on however as I am very interested in military matters, do you have anything on that?.

Spooky about the Kingdon surname as I thought I had found a connection with Kingdon/Kingdom (it varies from document to document) and did loads of work on it only to find I was mistaken.  It would be even more spooky if your Kingdon turned out to be the one I was researching.

Hi,

I wonder if you can help me with info on William Henry Moore who I believe served in the 3rd Battalion Railway Pioneer Regiment during the Boer War. At present this is only a theory so anything that might help confirm the theory would be great,

Thanks

Hi,

Some of the earlier stuff you have posted (i.e. Pre Henry Moore) has been very helpful, thanks. I note in your list of surnames you have Vanstone and Kingdon which I find very interesting as I thought I had found a Kingdon connection and did loads of work on it but later decided I had got it wrong and dumped everythi. I'd be very interested in your info

Regards

Hi, I think I must be related to Zingarakj as William Henry Moore and Winifred (nee Vanstone) were my grandparents.  I have some personal knowledge of them as well as some of their children (my aunts and uncles) I used to spend time at their cottage in Seaton Junction before William was killed.
