JAMES ARTHUR LYONS MARRIED JESSIE JULIA SLATER
HAVE NO FIXED BIRTH, DEATH  for LYONS and CAPE ARCHIVES FOUND NOTHING at all.
he arrived in Steytlerville in the eastern cape of South Africa and thereafter married Jessie Julia Slater. Their 1st child Henry william  Lyons was born abt 1871 and died 2 mar 1947 in eastern Cape. So their marriage must have been about that time. Their last child Amy was born 16.11.1886 and married John Albert Burke 6.11.1901. (James and Jessie had 8 children but giving time span of this relationship but no other information.)
Do not know where to look next.
Any help will do

have no details on James prior to his arrival in  south africa and information on death said he came from Canada but not much to prove as no documents that I can find to prove or disprove.

done search all over including family search.
LOOKING SPECIFICALLY for a JAMES ARTHUR LYONS who married into the SLAYTER family.
The other James Arthur Lyons 1848 WHO MARRIED Bridget Dwyer in Ireland,  who came to Kimberley in South Africa,is not the one in family search that I am looking for.  I made up a family tree of all his family etc and no link so far to my JAMES ARTHUR LYONS.
thanks

james arthur Lyons (how he came to be in south Africa is still a mystery) married Julia Jessie MUIR(1852-1941)  in 1873 in south africa.  she was born in Scotland and died in Uitenhage, south africa 1941.

The mystery is that there are 2 James Lyons but unrelated to the other. information on the web pages  follow the james arthur lyons 1848-1898 but is not part of this history.

The one I am looking for joins into the SLATER RUDMAN tree that I am working on.
Julia Jessie Muir/Lyons son married into the SLATER family to her daughter johanna Catharine SLATER.

hope there is someone who can help me.

thanks

James oreilly born about 1832 and from possibly Dublin.  was active in Cape Town from 1851-1886 as per census records. Do not know and when he got to Cape Town.
Sophia Elizabeth Pieterse is another guess whom he married as no records available either.
Records of their marriage and children are the only proof I have that they exist. All born from 1858 to 1872.
There is a possibility that he could have been on ships crew which landed him in Simonstown SA but cannot pinpoint that at the moment.

Was a bootmaker all the years quoted  (1851-1886)
Also (for what its worth) There was  James Patterson from Killashandra Ireland had leather works in the time of 1846 or so.

Hope someone can help

Thanks

I only have that James Patterson Came to South Africa. Records very scant only that he was born about 1832, did marry Sophia Elizabeth Pieterse?Petersen in SA in 1857 and did have 6 children all born in south africa. all ancestors to this point accounted for.  He was a cordwainer.  This all happened in Cape Town. 2 daughters Martha(married Johan Thaysen) and Mary (married Nickolas Copanna) into my research pattern.
Find no record that he was born in South Africa.
