My English Grandmothers maiden name was laird ( Florence Kate)
I have traced the lairds via David Laird (born 1672 in Forgandenny Perthshire)
to Thomas Laird Born 1566 in Errol Perthshire.
John Drummond of Niganaor B:1540 Ardvorlich, Comrie, Perthshire, keeps popping up as Father of Thomas Laird, but I believe that incorrect.
David Laird ( Son of Gilbert ) started the English line when posted down to London from Scotland around 1704-1710
His chelsea hospital pension records confirm his DOB and birth town. ( attached ) You will see he served for 20 yrs in the Military from 1704 on (• highlands of Scotland)
As per Pensioner Admission and Discharge Records Chelsea dated 12 nov 1724 after 20 years.
