Monmouthshire Lookup Requests / Headstones in Ebbw Vale/Tredegar area
« on: Tuesday 14 February 17 19:30 GMT (UK)  »
Across the pond. Descend from the Lloyd family of Ebbw Vale who immigrated to the USA in 1847. One son remained in Wales.
Thomas Lloyd b. 1822 Carregsawthey, Llangadog. He married Margaret Williams abt 1846. They had the following children: Thomas William Lloyd b. 5-22-1847 and Jane Maria Lloyd b. 8-31-1849. Margaret Lloyd d.7-3-1879 Ebbw Vale.
I would love to know where she is buried and if there is a photo of her grave. The entries on Find a Grave for Wales are very scarce.
Thomas Lloyd remarried in 1880 Sarah Price (b. 1846 Builth, Brecon). They had the following children in Oakfields, Lantarnam, Monmouthshire: Harry Stanley Lloyd b. 4-8-1881, Ewart Trevor Lloyd b. 4-17-1882 and Gilbert Price Lloyd b. 3-6-1883.

Thanks.

Looking for someone who could check Cwmbran cemetery for Thomas Lloyd b. 1822 died 1888.
He first married Margaret Williams and they lived in Tredegar, Wales. Two children: Thomas Williams Lloyd b. 1847 (never married) and Jane Maria b. 1849 m. Henry Parfitt 1874. Margaret died in 1879 Bedwellty. Thomas m. #2 Sarah Price in 1880. The couple moved to Oakfields, Llantarnam, Wales. They had three sons: Harry Stanley Lloyd b. 4-8-1881; Ewart Trevor Lloyd b. 4-17-1882; Gilbert Price Lloyd b. 3-6-1883.  Thomas Lloyd died in 1888 (have not received his death cert yet so I don't have the exact date). I believe he is most likely buried in Cwmbran cemetery. I am hoping someone could check for me. Can anyone help with this family? Thomas Lloyd is the only sibling of his family that remained in Wales. His parents and children immigrated to the US in 1847. My great great grandfather was his brother, David William Lloyd b. 1832
Also, is there a family history center that has obituaries for this area?
Thanks in advance for any help. :)

Gilbert Price Lloyd married Alice Ellen Meyrick in Barnstaple, Devon England 12-24-1914 according to newspaper index card on ancestry. Harry Stanley Lloyd was a school teacher at Stoke Newington London, England in 1901 and a teacher at the Scudamore School, Hereford, England in 1911. I sure wish they had more info online about this family. I would love pictures of Thomas Lloyd, Sarah Price Lloyd and their children. Thanks for all this info.
