Hi,

My Nan is Removed by Moderator she has been trying to find her brothers and sisters for years and these names are on her list of brothers and sisters. She went to Waterford a couple of years ago to try and find any living siblings but had no luck.  I would like to contact you privately, how do I do this? Lucy

Just attempted to send you a message — let me know if you don’t receive it and I’ll try again!

Hi John,

There are Dowlings from Waterford, but I can't seem to find a John Dowling born in 1809.
Do you have any more information?

Yeah, Daniel was born on 26 July 1876 to Thomas Dowling and Catherine Hammond.

Other children from this marriage are John (b. 8 February 1869), Henry (b. 2 February 1871), Ellen (b. 18 June 1873), Catherine (b. 1878 - I can't seem to find her) and Mary (b. 10 February 1880).

My great grandfather was called Daniel Dowling, when he married my great grandmother Annie McLaurence in 1897 the marriage certificate gives his usual residence of Ferrybank.

Now I know he was born about 1876, but I can't find any birth reference for him in the general index under Waterford.

Does anyone know if all of Ferrybank comes under the registration district of Waterford or could some of it come under Wexford?

I believe this Dowling family were a Stevedores in the Waterford area.

His father was called Thomas Dowling and was a fitter (presumably of ships). But I need Daniel's birth certificate to try and establish who his mother was.

thanks

Hi, Daniel and Annie were my great-great grandparents! I have a lot of information on this family, and I believe I also have a copy of Daniel's birth certificate if you haven't found it yet? If you'd like any more information, please get in contact!

                                         john dowling

ps would his marriage certificate give me any details.... father.mother ?

had a reply

Hi My cousin found him in the days before it was all on-line so I think it is from the Metropolitan Archive. Sorry I can't be more specific, however she is very careful and includes nothing that she has not checked. My mother talked of her aunts on the Dowling side going to Ireland to visit relatives and they sent her a postcard from Tramore so we think the Dowlings came from County Waterford. Susan

I'm related to the Dowling family from County Waterford - do you have any more info? I'd be happy to share what I have on the family.

Hertfordshire / Re: Totteridge School (1871)

Hi Anne,

There used to be a school in Hertfordshire named Totteridge Park School which, according to the 1861 census, had a lot of boarding pupils. Could this be the school you're referring to?

It is currently known as Dorset House School and its website can be found here: http://www.dorsethouseschool.com/history.html

I think that if any pupil records for this school do exist, they'll most likely be with the school so might be worth getting into contact with them.

« on: Thursday 09 February 17 19:14 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can help me to decipher this handwriting. I'm looking to understand the cause of death, and the road that William Fitzpatrick was living on.

So far I've managed:

Placenta praevia thirty hours cardiac ___ ___ ___ haemorrhage certified and 9 ___ Lane for the street name.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
