Graveyards and Gravestones / Re: Witton cemetery, Birmingham - is there a headstone?
« on: Monday 26 February 18 21:45 GMT (UK)  »
Hello, I understand Witton cemetery is enormous and I am not local.
The cemetery has given me a number, but can't tell me if there is a headstone.

Is there anyone out there who vsits Witton who might be able to locate a grave and see if there is a headstone?
The details are Section 27 and grave number 60778.  Buried there are Emma Riley 1949 and her husband Frederick, also known as Frank, 1956.

I would be most grateful if anyone visits and might not have to go too far out of their way to look for this grave.

Thank you Shejos

Warwickshire / Re: William Reuban Henry Dodwell Plimmer

hi - wow - what a find!!!

Reuben does sound a most colourful character that I have ever stumbled across  ;D

I tried researching the Reuban H J Dodwell this morning and his family in case that brought anything to light but sadly they all proved just as tricky to track down after the 1871 census, so I abandoned the idea - a daughter Ann Selina Dodwell appeared to change her name to Annie Beatrice (and her age) and looks like she  "ran off" with a William Kemp - got my self in knots and the father appears to have disappeared too!

thanks again for posting and any snippets on Reuben Henry Plimmer (or however he calls himself) most welcome!  8) ;)

Hi
I came across this post whilst researching the name Abilla Plimmer (as it is so unusual) as they were listed as a 'visitor' living with my relatives when researching my family tree.

Annie Beatrice isnt Ann Selina .... Annie Beatrice was my Great grandmother.  She is the daughter of Emmaline Ward (Nee Dodwell) who was sister to Ann Selina, daughter of Reuben and Louisa.

Hope this helps with your search :)

Travelling People / Re: Giddings completed

Hi
Not sure how far you have got with your research for the Giddings family, and if the information I have will be of any use/interest to you, but I came across Francis Ernest Giddings aged 38 who was a boarder on the 1901 census with my Great Grandparents (Henry and Annie Thomas) in Mountain Ash, Wales, and is listed as a showman.  In the 1871 census he was 7 years old and lived with his parents James Giddings (Comedian) and Ann Giddings (actress).

Good Luck with your research :)
Happy New Year
