Thank you aghadowey I have searched the BDM. in N.S.W. Victoria. and Queensland no luck with this search, have no idea if they stayed in N.S.W. or moved as they aren't in the 1841 Census for N.S.W.Matthew McElroy died in Paddington NSW in 1878 and his wife Sarah died in Camperdown NSW in 1861

He's in the 1891 Canada census (taken 20 April) so that should narrow the date range quite a bit. I see that he was married on 1 August 1891: he could not have been in Australia more than a couple of months.
