From scotlandspeople.gov.uk

Charles Delaney married Flora McCardle in 1894 in Dumbarton (marriage certificate).

Charles and Lizzy Delaney witnessed James' 1888 marriage (marriage certificate).

Honor Delaney Gallacher witnessed her mother's death in 1914 in Dumbarton (death certificate).

1891 Census shows James Murphy, Mary and 3 children.
1901 census shows James Murphy and Mary (Conroy) and their family. They had 2 sons (his first marriage) and 4 daughters and 3 sons from their marriage. no Charles.

1891 Census show 4 Hempshott (Henry Shott) Dumbarton.
Delaneys: Patrick, Annie (wife) Charles (son), Margaret, Annie and a lodger.
This is where Patrick died, possibly Honor too.

1901 shows Ann Delaney and daughter Norah Gallacher at 4 Hempshott (Henry Shott) Dumbarton.

1929 GGrandfather James Murphy died at the age of 70, making his birth circa 1859 well before Honor remarried. (death certificate).

Appears that Honor, Annie and Ann were interchanged by census takers. All official documents I have found use Honor.

Honor Jnr was actually born in April 1879 in the Gorbals, Glasgow (birth certificate and 1891 census)

Cheers.

Hi, hope this helps.

Honor's parents were Thomas Hughes and Hannah Docherty.
James' parents I haven't found.
Patrick's parents were John Delaney and Mary Holland.

Honor Hughes married James Murphy in c1852 and they had a son James Murphy. The elder James died and she remarried Patrick Delaney on 8th April 1864 in Galway. They had 3 children: Charles (b Ireland), Margaret (b Ireland) and Honor (b Ireland).
They came to Scotland with the three children.
Patrick died Died at 4 Hempshott or Henryshott Dumbarton in 1891; Honor in Dumbarton in 1914.

If you look at https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk  Charles and Margaret are on the 1891 census in Dumbarton and  can't find Honor jnr; the death of her parents are there.
That's where I left the Delaney trail as Honor and James were my GGGrandparents and their son my GGrandfather.

James, my GGrandfather, married twice 1881 and 1888 in Dumbarton. A James Murphy is on the 1881 Scottish census so maybe he came first to work in the shipyards and everyone else followed?
