Hi,
7 Jun 1846 Alexander McCurdy married Jane Lough in St. Nicholas Church of Ireland, Carrickfergus. The fathers' names were Moore McCurdy and Samuel Lough.

Regards

Thank you, this means that Elizabeth McCurdy who married Charles McCauley in 1853 is Alexander's sister. I was hoping that this was so.

Hello Sarah,
I hope that you receive this (my second attempt) it appears that we have ancestors in common. I live in Australia but on my scond visit to Ipstones in 2006 I found George and Kezia Goulds headstone but not their grave. It was found leaning horizontally againt the church in two pieces, it read "My race is run & thine is running, Prepare for death for judgement coming." I believe that I recently discovered where Kezia's father and brother are buried but can't verify it from here. I have all the Hayesgate Finneys, Balls, Dales and Chapmans. Kezia's sister Esther married John Lane the licensee of The Red Lion and later the Sea Lion, both in Ipstones. My grt grandmother was Francis Elizabeth Lane d/o George Henry Lane s/o John and Esther. I realise that you may already have found what you need, but please let me know if theere are any gaps that I may help with. Cheers Valerie

I am a new member and you may already have the information you need, but I may be able to add something as we both have George and Kezia Gould in our ancestry. I live in Australia but have visited Ipstones twice and upon my last visit (2006) I didn't find George and Kezia's grave but I found the gravestone, albeit in two pieces leaning horizontally against the wall of the church. The inscription read 'My race is run & thine is running, Prepare for death for judgement coming. Of course you are part of the Bowers family and the Finneys of Hayesgate. I have traced them back to the mid 1500's.

These Finneys are strictly Hayesgate Finneys and I have traced them back  to Richard Ball Finney who was born about 1580. My connection to this family is through Elizabeth (b. 27 oct. 1820) who married Joseph Bowers. They had a daughter Kezia who married George Gould in Ipstones. I have been helped by some wills to establish some of this family as the Alstonefield register has some unfortunate gaps. During the civil was there were no marriages at all. There were two succesive
Williams, one who married Elizabeth Dale (born Hollinsclough Bap. Hartington), and Elizabeth Ball who was born in Fernyford and named in her father's will as the wife of William Finney. The early Ferniford people are in the Alstonefield Register as many villages belonging to the Harpur-Crewe Manor are, before they had churches of their own. Anyway, What in particular do you need? This is my very first connection by the way, my skills aren't all that great, so be patient please. I just hope I can find my way back.....

Elizabeth McCurdy married Charles McCauley in 1853 and her residence was shown as Carrickfergus Antrim. At the time, her father was shown as Moore McCurdy and I can't find any information about him. Can anyone help please?
