Thanks Daisy and Geoff,

There is something not quite right, James Beedham died March 1892 in Wandsworth
I've sent the info. that you have posted to William John Beedham's great-grandson Geoffrey, who lives in Pasadena, Los Angeles. Geoffrey and his siblings have been trying to find their English roots for the past twenty years but have remained stuck at Brighton 1885. I have been working from transcripts of the birth and death certificates that they sent to me, I have now placed an order for  the full copies from the ONS. I will let you know if I glean any more info from these certificates when they arrive.

I've tried all the usual mispellings, Budham,Beadham, Beecham, etc., but to no avail.

Thanks Daisy,

I have the information from John William's birth and death certificates, however these aren't helping much. In the 1891 and 1901 censuses there are no signs of any Beedhams in Brighton and I cannot locate the father or John W Beedham in any other location in England. I quess the family must have cleared off to India by then?

Regards

Experience has taught me that the vast majority of Beedhams are descended from, or related to, James Beedham and Margaret Bainbridge who lived in Claypole, Lincolnshire in the late 17th Century.

There is one family that, despite all effort I cannot discover their roots. I would be very grateful if anyone can help.

Alan

Aberdeenshire / Auchteless MIs
« on: Tuesday 03 January 06 19:35 GMT (UK)  »
Two to three years ago on a visit to the Kirkyard of Auchterless we made a pencilled note of an MI that we found amongst some Cruickshank graves. Later the same day we were caught in a rainstorm in Huntly Cemetery and our notepad got soaked  with the result the above mentioned note is unreadable.

I can remember some of the inscription: 'To the memory of John Beattie, for many years ploughman at Logie Newton? who died in 1848 aged *** '

I think that John was the husband of Catherine Shearer and could be a son of George Beattie/Barbara Sim of Oldgateside, Culsalmond.

The ANEFHS has not yet published Auchterless MIs.

Is there anyone out there who can fill in the blank?

Moray (Elginshire) / Re: Barbara RUSSELL - born abt. 1825 Fochabers, Moray
« on: Monday 02 January 06 11:07 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Sarah

My wife is also a Great Great Great Grandchild of Barbara Russel.

Barbara's parents were James Russel and Margaret Anderson. (Shown on Barbara Russel's Death Certificate) I can not find a marriage for this pair. The 1841 Census for Deskford shows a Barbara Russel (Unmarried) at the same location, Ardrow, as Margaret Anderson.

The two Murray children shown on the same entry are Margaret Andersons whom I believe was the widow of William Murray.

Margaret's parents, John Anderson and Ann Wilson, are shown in the census  in the next door property  - Leatchistown.
