I see the 14th siege battery of the RGA went to Gallipoli in 1915.

I have 3 photo's if you would like to PM me an e-mail address, I can send them so that you can put a face to this enquiry?

It may be that what I had assumed was RHA uniform is infact RGA uniform.

I think I may have been looking at the wrong card as you state !!

I had the card before the medal details and sort of assumed that the H S Beale RHA was the correct card as RHA was what I had been told.

I now understand but luckily have the card. It reads as follows -
Rank (looks like Gels or Gils?

Victory RGA 131B PAGE 3039
It also has something againts British but I can't read it I am afraid.

I will have to have a look as to what RGA is rather than RHA.

My grandfather is Henry Samuel Beale who has the inscription GNR 14-18 65025 on his war medal (sadly not in my possession).

His medical card would indicate Regmtl No. 130730 and remarks Comm RFA (SR) 23-10-16

It also has EF/5/9890 extd from EF/9/4149 on the bottom of the card.

Does anyone have any ideas what the Reg no represents? and what records might be available for him?

The only comments I have heard is that he stepped off at Gallipoli with mules (not horses) due to the length of the journey, and one kicked him on the jaw smashing it in the process.

Would love to have direction as to what information might be out there to back up the details

Dorset Lookup Requests / 1851 look up
« on: Thursday 27 March 08 20:22 GMT (UK)  »
looking for Alfred Beale (b.1823 Cranborne) and Charlotte Beale (b.1823 Cranborne) in Cranborne 1851 who would have had a child Mary aged 2.

Also looking to identify Alfred (bp 1819 b.cranborne) m.Sarah# and had son William b.1842.

I have already identified Alfred (bp 1820 m Sarah) who had a niece Sarah aged 13.

There is a chance that the first two Alfreds are one and the same and that possible Sarah died but is William still with Alfred and now Charlotte?

I am confused, apologies if this confuses you too.

Dorset Lookup Requests / Re: 1861/1871 census look up
« on: Thursday 27 March 08 08:15 GMT (UK)  »
Many thanks team, apologies that I got the dates round the wrong way, a silly mistake.

Is there anyway someone could link back to earlier census. I have Alfred bp 1819 m Sarah, having a son William bp 1842 m Mary Ann, who had 4 children Mary Jane bp 1871, Edward bp 1875 William bp 1878 and Ellen 1862.

From the information provided on Lydia, I am not sure these Alfreds are the same people. It could be that the two Alfred's that I have been looking at are not Lydia's father at all. All the born Beales would be from Cranborne, Cripplestone area.

In 1851, Alfred and Sarah are living with Sarah a niece - this Alfred is not related to Lydia, so is the other ? or is there a third?

Too much thinking before work, I had better go!

Any help would be gratefully received. bealesofcranborne

1881 census

I have traced Charlotte Beale b.1823, Lydia (grandaughter) b.1857, William (son) b.1879. to Cripplestone, Cranborne, and Charlotte was a dressmaker.

I believe that Charlotte married Alfred Beale in 1860.

Any information about the 1861 or 1871 census for Lydia would be appreciated.

What I do have in Cranborne is two Alfreds (bp 1819, and bp 1820) marrying two Sarah's which is why I am confused.

Many thanks Frances, I will have to discuss with My father who stated that in his village of his birth there were only 14 properties.

Knew I shouldn't have trusted him.

Many thanks for your help

No I don't thinks so, I am looking at Sarah Ann Scutt (nee Beale) who married William Scutt, had a daughter Ivy Pike, but unfortunately William died at the age of 35 of Typhoid from drinking water from a well.

Are you able to trace the address of Sarah Bedle (mis spelling from Beale) b. 1836 in Cranborne with her three children Alfred, Millicent and Henry in 1901. And last question, I am keen to identify occupants of 9,10,11,12 Boveridge, are you able to trace by address as Boveridge is fairly small?

If not, many thanks for looking for me

Thanks
