Wicklow / Re: Waldron of Bray and Wicklow
« on: Saturday 18 April 20 15:48 BST (UK)  »
My 2x g grandmother was Mary Ann Waldron, from Wicklow. Born circa 1818 & eloped with horse groom John McMahon in 1840, to Australia. He was apparently below her class & family unimpressed. Another Waldron went to NSW a bit later & I'm trying to discover if he was a relative as the latter became president of the Society of Aust. Genealogists & they still have all of his records. Mary Ann had 10 children & lived in Robertson, south of Sydney.

London and Middlesex / Re: Gun Lane in Limehouse

I have relatives in Gun Lane also. Lockie's Topography of London says:
Gun-Lane, Limehouse, - at 23 Thre-colt-street, about twelve doors on the R. north from Rope-makers-fields, it extends to the Commercial-road.

If you put 23 Three Colt St in Google Maps, it's directly opposite St Anne's church.

Hey Mark,
They're my 7x g-grandparents so I have collated quite a few of sources for that family in my Ancestry tree. Unsure how we can exchange contact info privately in this forum.

The Silver records often have been transcribed as 'Silure', so include that in your searches as well.

BTW - I've recently been trying to find out the source of Sarah's 'Twist' in her name. It was always prominent in documents & signatures, and passed on to descendants, so was apparently important to her. The earlier records have Troistsilver or Troist-Silver & I thought it was of French origin, but troist isn't a word in French, as far as I know (possibly Dutch?).

Happy to let you see my tree. FamilySearch also updated for Sarah MMC9-S71.

Cheers, Carl

Hi Mark

Are you still out there? I'm a descendant of Sarah & her first husband, Benjamin Crispin, so please get in touch.

Cheers,
Carl
