Reget that I can not vouch for the facts, but my info seems to be the same as yours ... conventional wisdom being that Isabella Jackson (1779-1820) was d/o Henry Jackson (b.1742) and Christina Laidley/Laidlaw. Henry Jackson (b.1742) apparently the s/o John Jackson (b.c1717) and Margaret Pringle (b.1715). I've found no further info on Jacksons. Margaret Pringle (b.1715) apparent daughter of Walter Pringle (b.c1699) and Margaret Rutherford (b.c1693). Reget I know nothing of the Patterson line.

Yes, I have considerable information about the Forsyth family in Canada and Utah but have not been unable to identify any children of Robert (1802-1834) s/o Thomas Forsyth and Isabella Jackson. If you could throw any light on that subject, or if any information I may have on the other children would be of interest to you, would you please contact me directly at (*)

Mayo / Dixon / Dickson / Wallace

Would much appreciate contact with anyone having information concerning the family of -

Samuel Dixon, born 1784, Kilmore, County Mayo. At some point Samuel married Sarah Wallace (b.1789) probably born somewhere in Ireland. Sarah Wallace may not, however, have been his first wife. Samuel had a son James, born 1810, perhaps in Dublin but Sarah Wallace may not have been his mother.

In 1813 Samuel joined the 47th (Lancashire) Regiment of Foot. He served in England, briefly in France, and then in India from 1816 until 1829. Samuel's son James did not travel to India with him, and it is not clear if Sarah Wallace travelled with him, or if he married her in India.

Samuel and Sarah (Wallace) Dixon had three children born at Poona & Fort St. George, India; Jane (b.1821), Susannah (b.1823) and Sarah Charlotte (b.1824) ... Susannah died as an infant. On the return voyage they had a son, John William (b.1829), aboard ship off St. Helena.

The Dixon family emigrated to Canada in 1831/32. They seem to have followed Samuel's eldest son James (b.1810) who apparently emigrated at some early date, to Lanark County, Ontario.

Would very much appreciate making contact with anyone having information concerning the family of -

Joseph Moulton, born 1784, in Barnahusk Parish, Rectory of Barragh (Bunclody / Bun Clodi), County Wexford and wife Ann Elizabeth Warren (b.1790).  Joseph and Ann Moulton, and their sons Joseph (b.c1806) and John (b.1819) emigrated to Canada in the spring of 1819 settling in Lanark County, Ontario.

This couple appears to have been a part of a much larger family group which came to Canada in the early years of the 19th century.

A North Barry Yeomanry discharge granted "for purpose of going to America", dated March 1817, releases William Moulton, James Moulton, Joseph Moulton Sr. and Joseph Moulton Jr.

A James Moulton (1784-1859) with a party of seven arrived in Canada in 1817. A William and Benajmin Moulton also arrived in 1817. There was also an Ann Moulton, wife of John Jacob and a John Moulton married to Jane Dobbs. Also Joseph Moulton and his son Thomas Moulton arriving in 1818. Finally an Elizabeth Moulton wife of Patrick Lennen.

Wexford / Greenly / Greenley / Blake / Richardson / Richards

Would very much appreciate making contact with anyone who may have information on the family of -

John Greenley (b.c1775) in County Wexford, probably in the area of Knockadawk in Kiltrish Parish. He seems to have been a tenant of the White family of the Townland and Manor of Peppardscastle. An 1811 map of Ballywater shows two lots leased by John Greenly. In 1798, John served as a cavalryman with the Ballaghkeen Yeomanry under a Captain Hawtrey White of the Manor Peppardscastle. He was severely wounded and spent time in the Royal Hospital, Kilmainham, Dublin.

In 1801 John Greenley married Dorothea (Blake) Richardson ... widow of a man named Richardson and the mother of three daughters; Mary, Ann and Elizabeth. John & Dorothea had five children all born in County Wexford around Peppardscastle; John (bc1801), Robert (b.c1806), Charlotte (b.c1808), James (b.c1810) and Jane (b.c1813). The entire family emigrated to Canada in 1815 or 1816. They received a land grant and settled at Perth (Lanark County), Ontario.

In about 1815, Dorothea (Blake) Richardson-Greenley's daughter Mary Richardson (b.c1791) married (we think in Ireland) one William Richards (b.c1790/95). William Richards was born in Ireland and both his parents were killed in the fighting of 1798. He served in the Royal Navy and then commanded merchant vessels. This couple moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada in 1817, to St. John, New Brunswick, Canada in 1818 and later to Perth (Lanark County), Ontario, Canada.

Bedfordshire / Bygrove / Bygrave / Bigrough / Biggrave
« on: Saturday 31 December 05 13:54 GMT (UK)  »
Seeking any assistance which might be obtained as regards the family of -

William Tansley Bygrove born 1793, probably at Henlow. William was likely the son of Edward Biggrave/Bigrough/Bygrove (1770-1845) and Mary Tansley (1770-1808) and, if so, had a sister Ann (b.1791). William's grandparents were probably James Bigrave/Biggrave (d.1782) and Ann Upton (dates unkown).

William Tansley Bygove joined the Sixteenth (Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire) Regiment of Foot in early 1812. He served in Ireland, probably deserted, and was sentenced to "Unlimited Service" in a penal regiment, the York Chasseurs. He was shipped with his regiment to the West Indies in 1815. William fathered at least one daughter in Jamaica, Mary Ann (b.1816) and possibly another daughter, Matilda (b.1818/19). He was subsequently shipped to Canada in 1819, demobilized, granted land, fathered seven more children, and died aged 89 in 1882.
