I belong to the Maltmans of Ballydorn/Kilmood etc.
I am descended from Joseph's brother Henry (b.1836). Their parents were William Maltman (c. 1790)
and Jane Davidson. William's father was also William. They all lived in and around the Killinchy area, then moved on to Bangor and Belfast. One family went to Canada around 1830, and others went to Wilmington, Delaware, including Joseph's son Stewart. The name is frequently spelt MATMAN and other variations. Donaghadee was the main port of entry for County Down from Scotland. I have found a few Maltman families there in the early 1800's but they must have moved away or died out. As Killinchy is just a few miles down the road, I believe it's only a matter of time before both families link up. I'm working on this via NIFHS records. I lived in Bangor long ago, and know the area well. Any questions, just ask.
