Having looked at my records I believe I visited the burial grounds which are in Cemetery square which is off the high street.

Am now very confused. I can't remember the exact location but google map shows a graveyard next to a church in church st/place/lane but this is not the one I visited. The cemetery I went to was very small, very overgrown, and not open to the public without permission. It also had a high wall around it. In fact I don't even recall seeing a church but that is not to say it wasn,t there! So there must be two cemeteries in Llanidloes which might explain why we couldn,t find the grave. Sorry not much help but its been a long time since I went to Llanidloes due to the distance (live in Hertfordshire).

hi
My Gt Gt Gt grandfather William Breeze also worked at the Bryntail mines and lived in one of the Bryntail cottages. He died in 1868 although I can't find his death certificate in my records so am unable to confirm what was put on as reason for death although he was only 50 at the time. A few years back we went to Llanidloes and visited the local library which has quite a few family history books which listed births marriages and deaths. We found his cemetery transcription in the Bethel cemetery (which is main LLandiloes) which although in our case just was a one liner and brief description of the headstone other inscriptions are very detailed. We did enter the cemetery and whilst there were lots of gravestones we were unable to find ours as it was overgrown and we were trying to keep a low profile as it was technically shut !! So a call to the library or the Montgomery FHS could be the next option.

Hi Dimar

Will be away for a couple of weeks but on my return I will try Kew and see what I can find. Norah isn't Victors child that I am aware of so I will order a d cert for her and see what that reveals.  Will be in touch.

Bye for now

Hi Dimar and Norfolk Lady

I havent got much too add from the last time I posted as I had kind of given up going back much further on the Irish side but I did see both of your postings so got the old files back out of the cupboard! Dimar I think looking up the army files is a great idea if you have the time. If not I may be able to get to Kew in the coming months. I know its a long time ago but when Catherine senior died someone must have inherited the family paperwork/possesions but who? Norah the grandaugter was named on the death certificate so maybe she is the answer. I do not know who her parents are but she appears to never have married, any ideas?? Also what became of Catherine the daughter? I am unable to find a marriage for her. The other faint possibilty is that Victors eldest son may have had some records but I feel this is unlikely and even more unlikely that they have survived. Not promising but over the winter months I may set up a Heaffey website or family tree and see if we can get as many Heaffeys to add to it. It is such an unusual name that I am sure everyone is somehow related. That is providing my kids help me !! Never know we may find out more.

Lastly, Norfolk Lady sorry about Frank am I correct in assuming you are related by marriage to one of his sons? If you are then my hubbie knows yours but will not haven spoken for many years !!

Regards

On ancestry there is a note from a member to say that it should read Shadwell which is what I would read it as, however not sure that Shadwell is in Middx though. Goodle seems to imply that it is Tower Hamlets area. ???

Hertfordshire / Re: Death of Ann LOWE - St Albans 1850's

Your welcome Banger, was a lovely day and needed an excuse to get out in the fresh air! You are right that it was unlikely that there would be a gravestone in the circumstances but I thought I might find possibly other family members there anyway. Whilst the graveyard is in a beautiful setting unfortunately time has taken its toll on most of the gravestones. I live in St Albans so if I can help in anyway please dont hesitate to ask.

I know its a bit late in the day for a response to your query bu had a wander through St Michaels churchyard today in St Albans which would have been one of two local churches close to Pound field. Unfortunately there was no sign of any gravestones with the name Ann Lowe. Thought they might have thrown some light on which of the three death certificates would have been the correct one if you havent already ordered them.
