Antrim / Re: William John Caughey Carrickfergus 1910

Hi sorry for the confusion, I had a fellow member that shares the McCune DNA with me said Caughey was also her Gt grandfather and his wife died that’s the date 1910 but he remarried apparently in 1918 so there was a gap where he wasn’t married and Samuel Shields was born in 1914 as Shiels
Isabella she lived in Lancasterian St, he lived just up the road, but I have never found out Samuels real father my Gt grandfather that would be.
Robert Wallace was Samuels step father, Isabella married Robert in 1916 he died in the war Aug 17, she died a year later of Spanish flu, her mother died 1921 when Samuel was 7 yrs old in Lancasterian st, and also I have no idea who looked after him.

Hi I am trying to tie in William John Caughey from Carrick into my family tree apparently via DNA testing he could actually be the father of my Grandfather as I have found McCunes from Carrick on my fathers side via DNA testing.
My Grandfather Samuel Shields Wallace was the illegitimate son of Isabella Shields of Lancasterian St Carrick I have exhausted everything I can trying to find anything else out about Samuel Shields but the DNA link of the McCunes of Carrick ties William John into being my relative.

Antrim / Re: Searching for my ancestors the Wallace family of Ballyclare.

Hi fellow members, I just thought I would do an update furthermore to what I have found out about the Wallace family.
I have had a DNA test done and the Gt grandniece of Robert Wallace who I found via my searching we are not related so my Real family biological  name is not Wallace.
I also have been doing some other reasearch and I noticed a name in my DNA geographic area of a McCune which came up twice in Carrickfergus I messaged a lady and she said that the McCune was linked in her family tree via a man called Caughey this is the message she sent to me.
It ties up between Isabella Shields and Robert Wallace as well.

One possibility is my great grandfather - William John Caughey and our shared cM would allow for a half second cousin relationship. He lived on the Albert Road in Carrick and the date would correlate between the death of my great grandmother in 1910 & him marrying her cousin in 1918. My grandfather was raised by his maternal grandparents & did not have a good relationship with his father. William John was a sailor.

Does anyone know how to make a better link between William J Caughey and that Samuel Shields could infact be his biological son ?

Hi John, that is awesome thank you ever so much for that, at least it gives me members of his family to continue to research on the Wallace side.
Maybe I can find out now if they had any children.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: Burial not showing on online records.

There is a description of St Anne church Liverpool on the www.lan-opc.org.uk site including the information that the graveyard was closed for burials in the 1850s,. The church was rebuilt 1871 and demolished in 1967.

That’s a real shame if the grave isn’t there anymore, I am wondering why there is hard,y anything about him in the clan Wallace book?
All it states is RN officer and death 1830, when it’s 1829, no family members stated unlike the rest of Robert of Beechmount children.

Hi I have found a will heading from a book dated  1972, it has a will that I want to read, is there any way of getting to read the will without actually having to go to the Lancashire records office ? The will itself is date 1829.

Regards Gary

Hi I have found a burial for a person that could be a possible family member even though there’s a typo on it.
I found the burial in the book but cannot seem to find it anywhere online in the records. Is there any other way I can find it through online church records at St Anne and Nicholas? As I am trying to find the grave.

It’s for a Gordon Wallace but it’s spelt Wallice which is a typo and it has him down as living at chesterfield st, Liverpool his date of death was June 27th 1829 number 799 in the book.

Regards Gary.

Australia / Looking for additional info on James McMillan d 1862 gold fields Vic.
« on: Monday 02 November 20 11:41 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I have a line of inquiry on my gtgt grandmothers husband, Who lived and worked in Draylesford Hepburn, Vic in the gold rush.
I have managed to find out he died in the Gold fields on the 25 Oct 1862 with a administrative probate on the 11 Dec 1862 death reg no. 8468-1862
His widow returned to Ireland with his 5 children all between the ages of 8 and newborn.
I know his death certificate is available I was wondering is there any other info out there as I don’t  have access to the Australian boards or have little knowledge, I can’t seem to find a grave for him either.

Regards Gary.
