Thanks for this, Elliven.  I agree that it sounds like this St Oswald's would have been the likeliest for burial going off where she was living.
I will link Mother and daughter up on Find a Grave.

Thank you so much, Elliven.  Would this be the same St Oswald's that my Grt x 2 Grandfather Edward Senior is buried at, shown above?
My SiL and I visited this cemetery some years before Covid.  It is only a short walk from the Half Moon pub.

Thank you so much, Elliven for your research and posts.  I wonder where Mary Innis (snr) may be buried and also husband William Innis?  Her daughter Mary Senior nee Innis is buried at Elswick Cemetery.  One day if I locate her it would be nice to link them up on Find a Grave.  Husband Edward is at St Oswald.
Before covid I went to visit the Half Moon pub in Durham to see where these ancestors lived and worked.
It is a mystery that Edward Senior seems to have come from a wealthy background and was left a lot of money by his parents in their wills.  He was once a gentleman farmer before taking on pub work.  However, he doesn't appear to have left any will when he died and neither does he appear to have a gravestone.  Perhaps all the money was gone by the time Mary became the proprietor of the Half Moon?
I did come across an article once about these Marys being charged for allegedly serving someone at the Half Moon - I think it was on a Sunday morning out of pub hours.

Thank you so much for this, Mulberry Rose.  I really appreciate all your time and research.  Even though Tibby is not my ancestor I am very interested in her story since her fate was intertwined with that of my own Great x 2 ancestors.

In one sense I feel sorry that she lost both her partner Michael and son Michael.  However, I'm sorry to say I think they brought deportation on themselves with their crimes.  Especially, the son Michael who was clearly a violent man.  Poor as they may have been surely there was other paths they could have taken.

Thank you so much for this Mulberry Rose.  Once again, I think you have nailed things.
I think this clears up the mystery about who she was and that she was both the Isabella Miller wife of Michael and Isabella Campbell as inscribed on the tombstone.

Gosh, I do feel sorry for her - Michael sounds like a sainted husband from his epitaph but it sounds like life was rough living with John (although, perhaps she was difficult too).  Fancy making off with £200 of his/their money!  That must have been a fortune in those days!

I haven't had a chance to look through this full thread yet but I wonder if Jane remarried an Etherington and if she died as Jane Etherington in 1968?

Thanks so much for this Mulberry Rose, this is great that you have found out a bit more to the continuing story.
Yes, I was aware of the marriage to John Morrison of what may have been this Ellen.  I looked the marriage up and I think I posted the details on here somewhere pre covid.
I did not know of the death year of Tibby though, I wonder if she was buried at St Mary the Virgin Morpeth as our mutual blood line ancestor Mary Conroy was?  I know son Edward Conroy was buried there as well.  Just as an aside I wonder if Edward’s brother and your ancestor Joseph Conroy was buried there, too?  Or is his burial still unknown?
That is sad to hear that Tibby ended her days in the Poor house.  What a hard life she must have had, seemingly bringing up a family on her own (partner Michael doesn’t seem to have been around much) and losing her son Michael for good when he was sent to Australia.   That is sad too that she lost her daughter Sarah at such a young age.
I didn’t know that Tibby had an alias as an Elizabeth.  I think I recall that she had an older daughter too and I think the daughter may have been called Elizabeth.  I would have to recheck.
I wonder if Jane really did marry a Best or if she just pretended to be a married woman? I wonder if Jane had a sad end too, I wouldn’t be surprised.
Thanks again, I really appreciate all your help.

Added:  This is what I found re Ellen Anderson’s marriage:
Ellen Allen marriage to John Morrison
22 August 1857, St Nicholas, Newcastle
She was recorded as 'a hawker' but then a line was crossed over these words.
Her father was recorded as Michael Allen - a hawker

Her husband John was a cartman and his Father Robert was also recorded as a cartman.
Their witnesses were William Watson and Isabella Kelly.

A direct descendant of Michael Allen – ‘Suryniji’ posted on this thread but sadly they have not been back on here since.

Thanks for this Mulberry Rose .. so it would seem like two sisters married the two brothers! :)

You are very good at sussing things out so I will ask if you can ever work out who the Andersons/Allens were who were charged in the Matfen Murder trial along with my Great x 2 Grandparents, please let me know.
They were Isabella 'Tibby' Anderson, her son Michael Allen and her two daughters Jane and Eleanor Anderson.
I did find  Newcastle marriage for what may have been the daughter Eleanor but as I recall I think she was going by the name of Ellen.
Father's name was given as Michael Allen.
I think Tibby herselfwas unmarried.
My Grt  x 2 Grandfather James said they were 'acquaintances'.
These Conroy/Miller/Campbell/Anderson families seem as though they are all interconnected with each other is various ways so I have wondered if Tibby was related to Jane who married Jacob.  I would have to check it out again but I think there was an early census where possibly this Jane was with Tibby and her family.
No pressure to check anything out but if you do ever discover if  Tibby was connected to Jane Anderson's family and not just some random Anderson who turned up - I would be very interested to hear about it. :)
