Dorset Lookup Requests / Re: Help Requested - Bessie Alberta WOLFE
« on: Tuesday 24 January 06 18:53 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks Alli. That information is very interesting. Makes me wonder what kind of life she led from her teenage years through to her thirties. I guess a parlour maid was a fairly lowly occupation (recollections from the Upstairs,Downstairs TV series of some years ago.)
I appreciate your efforts in my behalf.
Cheers,

Thanks Frances - you're a star!  I wonder when Wooff became Wolfe. It's driving me barking mad!

Dorset Lookup Requests / Help Requested - Bessie Alberta WOLFE
« on: Monday 23 January 06 01:12 GMT (UK)  »
Would appreciate some help in finding information on an ancestor Bessie Alberta WOLFE. I know that she was married in the 2nd quarter of 1912 at Easthampstead to Henry Morgan Stembridge who was born about 1883 in Bournemouth.  I think her marriage certificate lists her name as WOOFF - but it is not clear.
I think they had 3 children, Betha, Ruby and Basil - all cousins of my late father. I think Betha was born in 1913.
I've tried unsuccessfully to find a birth record for Bessie searching under the names of Wolfe and Wooff and other similar names.  Bessie looked after my father during his formative years and had a house in London I believe.
Many thanks,

Surrey Completed Look up Requests / Nellie ELMER
« on: Sunday 22 January 06 23:11 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to get family history info. on Nellie Elmer. I know that she married Arthur Richard Bonson Yates in August 1910. He was 27 years old at this time so I'm guessing that Nellie would have been a little younger.  Since Arthur was born in Camberley, I'm guessing that Nellie was also from Surrey.
I've been trying to track down a birth date for Nellie to get a lead on her parents. Looking at the difficult to read records 1884 - 1891 I think I saw a Nellie Elmer born during 1st quarter of 1884 in St. Neot's (whereever that is).
Can anyone help?
Regards,

Completed Census Requests / Re: Yorkshire - RUEBEN WASS

Hi Darcy,
The Lower Agbrigg threw me. I remember my grandmother taking me to a particular spot on a driveway of Lawnswood Cemetery/crematorium in Leeds where his ashes had been scattered. I presumed Lawnswood was in Leeds District but wouldn't remember how to get to it nowadays - it was such a long time ago. Now I know it must have been Wakefield, Yorks.
