Fermanagh / Burns and Fox and Roe - Fermanagh and Glasgow
« on: Saturday 29 August 20 14:40 BST (UK)  »
I have a James Burns born around in 1847 in Fermanagh according to one Scottish census. His parents are listed as John Burns and Ann Fox on his death certificate. I have found a John Burns and Ann Fox in Glasgow from with three children born in Ireland (Michael, Patrick and Bridget) between 1853 and 1858. They also had two Johns born in Glasgow in 1860, died 1863 and a second born 1864.

I have a James listed on the senior's John's death certificate as son. John died in 1872, but was listed as only 39 years old, DOB c. 1833. Though the census record I have for him has his DOB as 1811. Same with Ann. She's listed as being born in 1825 on the census but the death certificate in 1891 lists her approximate DOB as 1832. She is listed as Agnes on the census. John's parents are listed as James Burns and Ann McCafferty.

The Ann in Glasgow's parents are listed as Francis Fox and Ann Roe, but I can't find them in Ireland or Scotland.

On James' death certificate in 1907, both of his parents are listed as deceased and John was listed as a labourer. The Glasgow John I have is listed as an Iron Labourer on a census and his death certificate.

I'm trying to trace this family back to Ireland and get more info on them.  Any help appreciated.

Derry (Londonderry) / Andersons of Drumachose, Londonderry
« on: Saturday 29 August 20 14:03 BST (UK)  »
Looking for info on John Anderson and Mary McTear (sp?) of Drumachose, Londonderry. They had at least 7 children between 1823 and 1839 - William, Robert, John, James, Mary, another James, and Sarah. I only have info on Robert born 1824 who married Jane Easdale/Esdale in Ballymoney in 1848 and emigrated to Glasgow. Any info on this family appreciated.

Lanarkshire / Dunlop Roddick/Roddie Drysdale - Calton, Glasgow
« on: Saturday 29 August 20 13:51 BST (UK)  »
I'm looking for information on the parents of Christina Dunlop Roddick (name sometimes a version of Roddie) - George Dunlop and Sarah Drysdale. She was born 1817 in Calton and died in Feb 1886 also in Calton. Her husband was James Roddick, married in 1841. Both parents were dead by Christina's death in 1886. George is listed as a Maltman on her death certificate.

Armagh / Conly/Connelly and Hanna/Hannah
« on: Monday 03 August 20 17:06 BST (UK)  »
I'm looking for information for the Conly/Connelly (and other various spellings) and Hanna/Hannah family that lived in Armagh.

I have a John Connelly who was born around 1831 in Ireland who ended up in Glasgow. His death certificate listed his parents as James Connelly and Rose-Ann Hannah, but I can't find anything in Glasgow for them. John's surname is spelled variously Conlay/ Conly/ Connolly/ Connelly on different records so finding anything on him in Glasgow has been hard enough, but I can't find anything in Ireland.

I've found a Saragh Jean Conly daughter of James Conly and Rose Hanna born in 1827 in Tynan, Armagh who I thought might be John's sister, but I can't find anything else on the parents.

Does anyone have any information or connection to this family? Thanks in advance.

Both of those are the right Edmond. His 2nd wife Margaret Usher was about 20 years younger than him. Nice to see the actual certificates.

Thanks.

Ireland / Re: Dead End - Any Help?
« on: Monday 12 June 17 21:19 BST (UK)  »
Just wanted to update and thank everyone for their help on this problem.

My husband was granted his Irish Foreign Birth status on the basis of the Edmond Tobin/Margaret Maher birth certificate. I'm still not 100% sold that this is the right family, but it's the closest we've been able to find and the government asked no questions. So we're safe from Brexit for the mean time.

I'm still trying to trace the family so any new info appreciated.
Thanks again.

Just an update: I've gotten no further with this family, but my other half had his application for registering his birth as an Irish foreign birth on the basis of the information I have been able to find. Guess the Irish government isn't as picky as myself as a genealogist as I'm not 100% I've got the right family.

Thanks for all your help.
