I am searching for any information on my family of Gaston's that fled France around 1640's and came into Scotland and then into Ireland.  Jean (John) Gaston born around 1580-1600 in France, supposedly Royal, Jean was exiled from France after a disagreement with the King on the religious wars, and married Agnes  which they called Agnes of Navarre and around 1650-1652, she was arrested and either was killed or died. They had numerous children but only 3 sons ever on history records. William born 1640-1642 and married a Elspet Chrichton, John born 1643-1645 married Esther Naugh and Alexander born 1548-1650 married Margaret Glasse.  It has been stated from our history that Hugh Gaston came to America from Ireland, he was a man of the cloth, after coming here he died shortly and before he died, he started writing accounts of his family to give to his sisters and niece. The story is of his dear grandfather which was Henri IV, Duke of Navarre and talked of his father he called William d'Orleans. Not sure what the variations of Gaston considering he was trying to keep under cover. We are trying to find where he was during the time he was there until after the death of his wife.  We have found some villages Edinburg, Fife, Dummerford,Ayshire and one other that escapes me at the moment. Any help with this information would be greatly appreciated. thanks, bobbie wigginton
