World War One / Private Harold Sigley
« on: Tuesday 30 August 16 23:31 BST (UK)  »
Hi all, first message here so here goes, I am looking for any information my late Grandad, 462218 Private Harold Sigley of the Labour Corps. I know he was born 28/12/1897, in Oldham Lancashire, and conscripted on 02/06/1916. He was discharged 01/08/1919 under KR 392XVI for apparently being gassed and received the Silver War Badge and a pension. I have seen his MIC and Pension Card but apparently his attestation papers are part of the burnt documents. He is shown in family photographs wearing a fusilier cap badge. His uniform looks new and he is wearing a leather belt which suggests he was still in training (possibly in NW England due to the pub sign in the background). I have been trying to find anything else I can through the ususal channels but any help will be gratefully received.

Lovely clear photograph. The thing that people have missed is that they're all Bandsmen. Possibly the gent with the "Band Harp" on his cuff is possibly the Bandmaster.

Sorry to join -in with this conversation so late on but, my wife also has one of these medallions. It was awarded to her GrandUncle .He was Fred Woolstencroft, a L/Cpl in the 1/10th M'cr.
