Diolch. Does dim enw o dan unrhyw darn o gerddoriaeth yn y llyfr. Dw i'n cymryd felly taw David Pugh yw awdur pob darn o gerddoriaeth yn y llyfr.

Thank you so much Lady Hawk for this information. I will visit this grave when i visit Aberystwyth next week.

Also to everyone, I posted an extract from the notebook in 'totally off the topic' forum.

Cefais help ddoe datrus dirgelwch hen lyfr llawn Cerddi a pharablau yn llawsgrifen David Pugh o Merthyr Vale. Dechreuodd ysgrifennu yn y llyfr 9ed Rhagfyr 1922. Dyma darn o gerddoriaeth am y Nadolig ymddangosodd yn y 'scribble book'

Swn Nadolig sydd yn dod
Llawn mor swynol ag erioed
Sua'r awel swn y geni
Fi yn Bethlehem ar ein rhan
Plant sy'n gofyn am ei rhoddion
Heddiw gan ei tad au mam

Swn y canu byth anghofir
Gan fugeiliaid Bethlehem
Hen gantorion gwlad y wynfa
Rhai fu'n canu uwch ei pen

Tybiai rhai fod Gabriel yno
Yn arweinydd ar y cor
Dyblu wnaeth yr Haleliwia
Iddo Ef dros dir a môr"!

Thank you for these replies. They confirm who was the owner of the book and how my grandfather acquired the book in 1950s. My grandfather William Caradoc Davies was minister at Bethel Aberystwyth. He probably knew David & Martha Pugh when they lived in Cardiganshire. It's possible they have decendants still living in the area.
I tried to send photo of inside cover with address, but it was too big to upload on rootschat site. But I will post some extracts from book later on in the day. Thank you again for everyone who has been busy with lookups. Very much appreciated.

Thank you, I had missed the David Pugh from  Montgomery. The marriages are interesting.

Thank you CaroleW, I was unaware of the extra charge. He isn't at same address on 1911 census, but there is a David Pugh living in Merthyr Vale with his parents aged 27. I will take a photo of front page and try to send it to this forum.

I found recently an old cash book/notebook with date 100 years today December 9th 1922.  David Pugh lived in

20 Windsor Place
Merthyr Vale.

I was wondering what details the 1921 census had about him.  Can someone help please?  There is no clue on the notebook how old he is or what his employment was.  The notes inside are Christian poetry and extracts from sermons he had listened to.  They are in Welsh and English.

Thank you.

Links above to Ferndale and Penrhys cemeteries which are near Tylorstown, and Trealaw cemetery which is probably the nearest to Wattstown.

Tylorstown and Wattstown are in the Rhondda fach.  This is a narrow valley with several villages. I lived here for a few years and have some contacts still in the valley. Please feel free to post other requests.
