Thank you all for helping me find some Lea relatives. I am so new at this that I need all the help I can get! What is so confusing is the repeating of first names!  As it stands now, I am looking for information regarding John Lea's father, Edward Lea who married Mary.  They would be my 3 times great grandparents.

I so appreciate your efforts on my behalf.

Family History Beginners Board / John Lea born Whitchurch, Shropshire, England

This is my 2 times great grandfather.  I know he was married to Margaret Maddocks Lea but I don't know when.  I know Margaret Maddocks was born in 1834. I think John Lea was born about the same time in Whitchurch, Shropshire, England. Christening records, marriage records, their parents' names? Thank you for all your help!

Thank you!  This was very helpful! I was always told that Margaret Lea, daughter of my great grandmother Lea never married.  To know that she was indeed married and that she did go back to live with her til she died answers the question as to why she was not still in the States. Many thanks for your help!

Family History Beginners Board / Great grandfather, William Alfred Lea Sr.

My great grandfather, William Alfred Lea, is listed as a traveler born in 1863 in Wem, Shropshire, England.  What is meant by the term "traveler"?

How do I, a new member, get in touch with William R. Jones who had been doing some searching for Lea relatives?

Thank you wonderful people! You have given me much new information.  I am a novice at all of this and it has been over whelming trying to find my way. I am going to keep digging for more information.  Now, I have to get ready for my day!

:) Thank you so much.  I believe you have found the marriage date of my great grandparents!  Thank you so much! I know of three children born to them:  Margaret, born about 1887 in Liverpool; Claude Maxwell, born about 1892 in Liverpool; and my grandfather, William Alfred Maddocks, born about 1903 in London. I'm wondering if there were any others?  Claude Maxwell and William Alfred emigrated to the U.S. in 1920.  I know that Margaret never came here.  She sent my mother a lace tablecloth as a wedding present and something for me when I was born.  How can I find living Lea relatives in England or Ireland?
