I have a black lace 'mourning' cape from my late mother's possessions with the labe of Adnitt Bros Northampton inside. Would anyone have any ideas about the whereabouts of this. Many of my relatives were in the lacemaking industry in and around Long Buckby.

Kirkgate is in the centre of Leeds and Beeston is about 2 miles out. St peter's is the other name for Leeds Parish Church. Several from the Beeston and Hunslet areas were married there

Ada Kate Townsend Newitt's sibling's were:
Elizabeth Hannah Newitt b1861 married Harry Townsend 7 Nov 1880 Long Buckby.
Fred Newitt b1867 married Elizabeth Muddiman 22 May 1893 Long Buckby.

As you can see there was a lot of intermarriage between the Townsends and the Muddimans at the time!

I have nothing on Ellen Mary as she is not one of mine.

What do you have on Joseph Newitt?

Hi thanks for the reply.
i know they were farmworkers and were always moving about so this looks promising. All i want to find out now is why granddad John Halliday, son of Richard Halliday, was the only one born in Tow Law Co Durham in 1873. All the other members of the family were born around Yorkshire. It seems a long way in those days to go looking for work.
thanx
