Hello Linda,

Great to hear from you.

If it helps, I believe that we are 3rd cousins, sharing David Kennedy and Ann Keith as GG-Grandparents.  To the best of my knowledge, their children were:

John (1858-1927)
William (1860-1897)
David (1862-1933) --> My Great-Grandfather
Duncan (1864-1865)
Mary (1866-1931)
Angus (1869-1956) --> Your Great-Grandfather
Donald (1871-1952)
Duncan (1872-1873)
Catherine (1874-1875)

Regards,

John

Hello Root Chat,

I've run into a brick wall, trying to trace the origins of my GG-Grandfather David Kennedy (b.~1834) in Paisley, son of John Kennedy (labourer) and either Mary Allison or Christina Shaw.  David married Ann Keith in Greenock on 2 Jun 1857.  His father John was already deceased by then.  I have managed to find him in the census records for Greenock from 1861 until his death in 1903.  There is also a good match for him in the 1851 census in Netherhall, Largs, Aryshire as a farm servent.  I have, however, been unable to find a conclusive matach in the 1841 census, or a baptismal record for David on Scotland's People.

This is the same family as referenced in these posts:

If anyone is researching these lines, please give me a shout.

Hello Linda and Ann,

I hope you still watch this board.

I'm a descendant of David Kennedy (b.~1834) and Ann Keith as well, via their son David (b.1862), brother of Angus (b.1869), who moved to Befast in the ~1880's.  David (b.1862) was my Great-Grandfather.  As for descendant still in Greenock, in the 1980's I was in contact with descendants of another brother Donald (b.1871).

I you have anything to share, please do!

John in NC.
