Jeflb, Do you know the dates when your Jeremiah and/or Thomas lived? Do you know where they lived? Have you found them on any census forms? It's helpful to start with yourself and work backwards, documenting along the way.

I just discovered last week that my Leahys were also from Fethard - Denis Leahy was my great great grandfather, immigrated in the mid-1820s to New York, and a bit later to San Jose, California where he was a farmer. He lived to almost 100 years of age. ;D Brendan, I believe I have a book of yours. Would you autograph it for me?

My great grandfather Jack (John Joseph) Egan b. 6/24/1859 immigrated from Mayo to Pennsylvania and ultimately settled in Barr Lake, Colorado and owned a dairy farm. His parents were Bryan Egan and Catherine Harrington. I have found Bryan in LeCarrow Kilbeagh in Griffiths.  I'll be in Ireland in June and would love to meet Egans if they are still in the area.

Hello, some of my ancestors were James Lunnie b.1767 and Mary Temple b.1802 from Tyrone, Mary from Drumquin and James from Oritor. James was awarded land in Canada for his long career in the British Army. I'll be in Ireland in June and would love to find if there are still Lunnies and Temples in the area.

Tipperary / Leahys and Kearneys of Fethard
« on: Wednesday 06 April 16 15:48 BST (UK)  »
;D After decades of looking, just yesterday I found the baptism registry at NLI for my gg grandfather, Dennis Leahy! We had always heard he was from Thurles, but I found him in Fethard, with the spelling Denis Lahy. His father was also Denis, and his mother was Mary Kearney. In Ancestry, the mother's name was listed as Heaney.
Was Thurles the major town in the area in the early 1800s? That may explain the Thurles reference.
Are there Leahys and Kearneys in Fethard today? I will be visiting in June, and would love to track down some cousins!  :D If there are any doing DNA research my info (and my brother's) is on Gedmatch, we are also on Ancestry, FamilyTree, 23&me.
