I have John and Elizabeth in my tree, they are my 3x grwat grandparents. Elizabeth was Elizabeth Rowley, not Pye/Tye. Her sister Maria married Richard Pye but he was her 2nd husband, her first marriage was to William Barker. This is why everyone gets confused by the 1851 census, Elizabeth was the sister of Maria, not Richard Pye.

Best wishes, Richard

Don't rely on the book by Muriel Hall, some of the info is wrong. She claims that the George Fox who was baptised in Hathersage on 16th November 1777 was the one who lived at New May House Farm but this is incorrect. The George Fox who was baptised on this date was from the Foxes of Callow Farm and he's buried with his parents in Hathersage churchyard, the grave can be found near the church porch with other graves from the Callow Foxes. Hi, I've just had a DNA test have have four matches to people with George Fox 1777-1848 in their tree. My Fox family is the Callow branch from Hathersage near Highlow Hall. I work with two other researchers on this family and we have a lot of documentation to prove our family, and the graves in Hathersage church yard write the relationships in stone, which match the wills. Our branch is the one who built Fox House, now a pub on the Sheffield to Hathersage Road.

My DNA results suggests a link to your branch of the Foxes but I can't see where it fits, do our branches share a common ancestor? I would be very interested in comparing notes and trees with you.

Regards,
Richard (from Sheffield)

I'm a few years late with this, did you sort it out? I'm also researching this family and came up with the same as you got with Elizabeth Rowley and the Pye confusion before I found your post. Regards Richard.
