And nothing to do with the question - but Nixons were still living in Toneduff when I lived there in the 1950's - used to leave my bike in their barn - while I got the bus to school.....

 Scotmum,

Thanks for linking the Rosborough post - I hadn't found that one!

I was able to find the Sarah Irwin death on GRONI for 1885 - but not the 1884. (grr!)

Bit of a puzzle..... :)

Derry (Londonderry) / Sarah Rosborough/George Ellis

Hi

Does anyone have any information on a Sarah Rosborough who married a George Ellis around 1840.  They lived in the Waterside, in Londonderry.  I've found a number of Birth Certificates for children - but also their Death certificates.

George Ellis died in Jan 1869, the will was probated in 1870 - and by then she had married a William Irwin - a pensioner. On the Marriage Certificate she names her father as John Rosborough, a Merchant.

One of the witnesses Archibald McSparran was married to Eliza Rosborough of Lisbunny - so I'm wondering if Sarah is originally from Lisbunny or surrounding area...

I can't find when she died....

Also there was one son Robert - who I haven't found a death record for.

Any help would be appreciated.....Thank you...

...and I went to the Parish that they were married in Mullanahoe (?) and looked at the 1911 Census

There is a Patrick Quinn marries a Jane Devlin - in the same Parish church - 18 May 1897.(His father Joseph, hers - Henry Devlin).

Mary Elizabeth Quinn is born 3 Nov 1898, and baptized 29 Nov 1898.

There is also a Mary Elizabeth Quinn born 15 June 1899 to a Patrick Quinn and Jane McIvor in Fintona.

I took copies so I can send them...
