Thomas K Batterbury attended Eltham College at a young age, but I am fairly sure his parents could not afford the fees so he left. Not sure about the link to Bedford. He was one of my ancestors and I heard mention of him (Thomas Batterbury was an architect of some repute d 1922 I think) . My grandfather was Basil Batterbury, d. in the 1990s in Sidcup. Many Batterburys stayed around South East London, although there was a larger number in the West Country, many buried in Bathford cemetery.

you've probably moved on from your 2009 conversation! But I think there is a family member on Ancestry.com who has quite an interest in the Brighouse Longbottom lineage. But I don't have any answers on your immediate question regarding the other Longbottom connections.
I've only got scanty immediate info as John Edward Longbottom was my grandfather, altho' I never met him. He died in 1928 I think.
He moved from Brighouse to Bridlington (due to a heart or lung condition? that it was thought would benefit from the sea air). He established what is now Lloyds bank there.
He married twice. First wife died. Had x? children, one of whom married an Eileen ? whose 3 children were Myrtle, Janet and David Longbottom. They lived in Streatham, south London before moving finally to West Worthing. I think the daughter of David Longbottom, Jane, has done some research into the family history. My father, Brian, kept a very close friendship with Myrtle.
John Longbottom's second marriage was to Frances Mabel Cochrane (or Mabel Frances?) who was much younger than him (actually was his daughter's best friend). John and Mabel had 2 boys: Brian Cochrane Longbottom (1918 - 1996) and Philip John Longbottom (1919? - 2010?)
