Hi Chloe
I know its a few years since you posted this message, Hope you had some luck and that we still can make contact with you.  If you would like to contact me on my email color=Blue](*)[/color]  I can put you in touch with my sisterinlaw who is working on the McBeath family tree,  there is a reasonable amount of history gathered on this line of the family in NZ.  Her great grandfather & his brother came out in 1863 on the Helenslea.  Hope to hear from you.  Kind regards Merrilyn in New Zealand

Sussex Lookup Requests / Re: help with a brickwall!
« on: Thursday 24 June 10 12:15 BST (UK)  »
Katie   I have just noticed on Google your "help with a brick wall" re William Hunt born 1818 Westham  who married  Sarah.  My great grandmother was Eliza Jane Hunt born 1851 at Rotherhithe.  She married Ernest Mark Brooks & travelled to Australia with my Grandmother Florence age 12 months old.  I have Thomas b 1855/56 marrying Amelia Ann Green is this correct?  Eliza called one of her daughters middle name Fanny, I wondered where it may have come from !!!  On Eliza's marriage cert she has her father William Hunt (dec) profession a Engineer, now I find today  on the 1861 census he was a night porter at a wharf, and on the 1851 census was listed as a Police Constable.  After his death Sarah was a milliner as was her daughter Amelia.    I would be delighted to share information.

Hello Iris,
Thankyou so much for trying to help, unfortunately I do not feel there is an connection, unless a cousin.  My William James Wills & a brother ? went to Australia, their mother went in 1832,.   I do not know when the boys went out, I doubt they went on the Convict ship with her
Hi Estelle
Found this in the1851 census.
William Wills b about 1828
Unmarried Labourer
living at 65 Jewery Lane Canterbury
Could this be son William who maybe stayed behind ?
Best wishes......Iris :)
.  I need to keep searching.  I was delighted to find 2 records of his mother Ann's convictions at the Old Bailey in 1831.  Thankyou again for taking the time to help. Much appreciated.  Estelle

Kent Lookup Requests / Kent, birth look up please
« on: Wednesday 30 November 05 04:55 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for the birth of   William James Wills  born abt 1830 in Canterbury, Kent, England.  I have his Australian marriage cert & also his youngest daughters birth cert, both giving Canterbury, Kent as his birth place.  I believe his mother was Ann Bassett who married William Wills at Hinckley in 1827.  (But I need to confirm this) Ann Wills was sent to Australia in 1832 on a womens convict ship.  She was charged at the Old Bailey in Sept 1831 for stealing.  I do not know if her 2 children went with her or followed, or if her husband William Wills went to Australia.  Any information would be of help with my search.
Many thanks  Merrilyn
