Limerick / McGrath Brennan Keane Castleconnell
« on: Sunday 20 May 12 09:29 BST (UK)  »
Would anyone know how I could find out more about this family

Name:   Mary McGrath   Date of Birth:      Date of Baptism:   11-Apr-1856
Address:   Not Recorded   Parish/District:   CASTLECONNELL
Co. Limerick   Denomination:   Roman Catholic
Father:   Martin McGrath   Mother:   Mary Brennan
Sponsors Patrick Hourigan Biddy King

I believe Mary McGrath is my Great Grandmother. Mary Brennan I am hoping is the one who married Michael Keane and had Michael, John Catherine and a few others.
Mary McGrath is named as the mother of Margaret Nora Lynch who were raised by the Keane family because Mary supposedly went away.
I can find no further trace of any other children to Martin McGrath and Mary Brennan.

John Keane and his wife Mary Maroney lived around Bunkey Castleconnell.

I am mainly interested in finding more about Martin McGrath and what ever happened to Mary McGrath.
Thanks Gay O'Neill

Warwickshire Lookup Requests / Holtom

Can any one help me progress with Thomas Holtom who married Mary Ann (nee Fellows) 1837 in Kings Norton.
I can not find them in 1840. I find Mary Ann Holtom with
Benjamin Fellows 1787 in Birmingham and her children the youngest Esther born 1849 in Birmingham.
I found on free bdm a death for a Thomas Holtom 1850 in Birmingham.
Mary Ann born 1816 and Benjamin Fellows were born Bilston
Staffordshire.
Any help with Thomas Holtoms parents or siblings would be appreciated. Thank You

Hi,
really happy to see what I can find...can you tell me more about him in America so I can look at what you found to see if I can find any hints as to his home town in Tipperary. What town did they go to in America, what census have you found him on. What are the names of his children.
All that is important to trace him in Tipperary as you also follow names such as his eldest child's name if a boy would be for his father..usually that is.
Thanks Gay. If you would prefer to email me then I am (*)     - makes it easier than working on this site.
O'Neills were from Clare - hubby
my family  Shanahan from grangelough in Tipperary

Hi,
sorry but I do not think that the Shanahan's that I am looking at went to America and if they did I do not know about the American history.
Having said that I do have ancestry.com at the moment and if you would like me to look at the family for you in Amcerica on the census I would be happy to do so.
Wish I could be more helpful, the Irish are very hard to find but sometimes they do leave little clues as to their townlands.
Warm regards Gay in Western Australia

This is an amazing site..how long has it been around and why wasn't I told!
Truly thank you for it..it will help both my husband and I to look for our elusive Irish ancestors who came to Australia but would have left behind loved ones. I will pass on the info to the Barrett McMahon researcher. Just a quick look at if using the close, and partial facility I found loads in Nenagh.
Cheers ONeill

Thats fabulous information especially the birth notification.
I will pass this onto the lady who is doing the research on those two familys.
She may like to be involved with rootschat herself.
Thank you
